HBO Max’s ‘Mortal Kombat’ is coming up soon, and with so much excitement behind it, they decided to release the official theme song for the film. However, it’s a heavily revised version of the original with a modern dubstep element. It’s, not great.

IGN posted it to their Instagram page with the following caption and use the link below to check it out for yourself,

“Test your might!” WB revealed the theme song for its upcoming Mortal Kombat movie, Techno Syndrome 2021, a revised version of The Immortals’ classic theme with modern dubstep elements. Link in bio for more.”

After just a few seconds of it, I was wondering what in the world was happening. The original theme song and perfect, classic and needs no revision for a “modern” audience. I’d go as far as to say that this is terrible, awful, and butchering of the original.

Fans of the original tend to agree, commenting, “Not better than the original”, “Definitely not better than the original”, “Original 1000x better”, “This song sounds like me watching some russian meme or something”, “Don’t give me hell for this but the original is much better, that’s just me tho”, “Nah bring back the original”, “Wtf is this” and “can’t say i like it. doesn’t even really sound like a good soundtrack song in general”.

Hopefully, the filmmakers choose to still use the original in the movie and leave this monstrosity out of it.

What do you think? Are you a fan of this theme song? Let us know in the comments below.
