Golden Globes Host Joe Koy made nasty remarks about the royal family. He also insulted Harry and Meghan for doing “absolutely nothing.”
Jo Koy Offended Many People, Including Harry and Meghan, and Failed to Read the Room
Koy’s words offended many people, as he brutally mocked the royal family in his monologue. He claimed that the royal family is
“rich, white, and dysfunctional. He aimed to point out the similarities between the show “Succession” and the historical royal drama “The Crown.”
Koy’s joke was meant to mock the Sussexes for their super stressful year after Spotify dropped Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, unceremoniously, and the couple were labeled “grifters.”
Both South Park and Family Guy also parodied Harry and Meghan. The Duke and Duchess’s Archewell Foundation has also seen better days as donations have drastically dwindled.
Koy also took a dig at Harry and Meghan’s financial woes as he made this cruel joke: “How great was Imelda Staunton in the Crown? Wasn’t she amazing?” he quipped.
“Her portrayal of the Queen was so good Prince Harry called her and asked her for money.”
It was an unfunny joke, and not just because of Harry’s unfortunate situation but also because, as a comedian, he just wasn’t that funny.
If Chris Rock were joking about Harry and Meghan, he would have knocked it out of the park, and what you can get away with as a comedian is unbelievable if you are funny.
The so-called comedian didn’t just attack the royal family. He also joked about Taylor Swift and the NFL during the Golden Globes.
“The biggest difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? he exclaimed, “On the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift. I swear, there’s just more to go to.”
The funniest thing to see was Taylor’s reaction to the joke. She waited a second, took a sip, and kept her eyes forward.
There is a “Suits” Reunion in the Works
The Harry and Meghan joke about them doing “absolutely nothing” received a hearty laugh from Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, even though it was a joke recycled directly from Family Guy. Apparently, even the lackluster comedians get some laughs.
According to a source close to Meghan Markle, she couldn’t make it to the Golden Globes due to a previous commitment. The Duchess of Sussex was invited to the event but did not show.
Gina Torres, who played Jessica Pearson on “Suits,” said
“We don’t have Meghan’s number.”
When queried if anyone had communicated with Meghan.
Patrick J. Adams, who played Mike Ross, was Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane’s love interest on the show. Adams and Gabriel Macht, who played Harvey Spector on “Suits,” presented the best TV drama. In a surprise move, they were joined by Torres and Sarah Rafferty, who played Donna Paulsen.
Rumors swirl that a “Suits” reunion is in the works, and Patrick J. Adams has confirmed it. So, the question is whether Meghan Markle will be interested and free to return to her acting roots when the time comes.
