Joss and Vaughn Were Romantically Involved Until Brennan Had Him Abducted and Potentially Sent Away
Joss and Vaughn were romantically involved until Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) pulled the plug on their blossoming relationship by mysteriously making him disappear.
Vaughn defied Jack’s orders and continued to see Josslyn even after Brennan warned him to stop. Jack was quite clear that he didn’t want the two of them involved.
Essentially, Vaughn became viable in his role at WSB. We also know that Bryce Durfee was removed from the credits and the entire WSB storyline, and he hasn’t been mentioned since.
On Brennan’s orders, Vaughn was seized by WSB officers and taken to an unknown location. Hopefully, Vaughn wasn’t killed, but some fans are still wondering what exactly became of Vaughn.
It had really seemed like he and Joss were getting close, but some fans also never really warmed up to Vaughn’s character, believing he was only a cheap imitation of Joss’s previous boyfriend, Dex Heller (Evan Hofer).
Maybe Vaughn was relocated to another WSB location to keep him away from Joss. However, some fans think the character had great potential.
Joss has seemingly moved on, as if nothing happened. Yet Joss is still running around like hot sh*t, and everyone is acting like she’s still a WSB agent, despite Jack demoting her.
That said, Vaughn didn’t really betray Jack the way that, say, Ross Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) has. Vaughn wasn’t a double agent, nor did he ever derail a mission.
His only crime was having romantic feelings for a fellow WSB agent. Another potential issue is that Vaughn wasn’t related to any of the core families in Port Charles.
Joss Got Justice for Dex When She Killed Cyrus and Joined the WSB
However, there was some talk for a short period that he might have been Jack Brennan’s long-lost son, which would have given both Brennan and Vaughn family in Port Charles.
Vaughn had no connection with anyone other than Joss. Therefore, Vaughn may have been viewed by the GH writers as more of a short-term or expendable character.
Yet, let’s be honest: Vaughn was no Dex Heller. Many of the fans didn’t take to Vaughn and Joss’s romance the way they did with Dex and Joss. They were a solid couple.
We still question the power at the behest of GH’s decision to kill off Dex so unceremoniously. Joss was actually likable when she was with Dex. Viewers seemed to be much more supportive of their relationship.
However, Joss got justice when she shot and killed Dex’s killer, Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), in February 2020. That was when Jack asked Joss to join the WSB.
Now, Joss has become one of the most insufferable characters on the soap. It’s difficult to stomach her scenes as a rogue spy, conducting unofficial investigations and probing everyone in town for information that’s none of her business.
Interestingly, Vaughn had previously auditioned for the role of Harrison Chase (Joah Swickard) back in 2018.
After some cast changes announced in January 2026, the character of Vaughn was removed from the show’s credits. Some fans are hopeful that he may someday return to reunite with Joss.
