‘General Hospital’ (GH) Spoilers uncover that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) used to be fearless. She was a bad a** con woman who became a formidable and daring PI. Now, she’s an overbearing whiner.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Real Sam Would Let Danny See Jason
In the past, Sam would have never deprived Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) of access to Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn). Sam loved Jason, and the two of them made a good team.
The couple bravely fought off villains such as Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche) and Lorenzo Alcazar (Ted King). They were poised to be made of the same stuff as Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) and Laura Collins (Genie Francis). But that ship has sailed.
As soon as Sam heard that Jason was alive, the real Sam would have been the first to welcome him home. She would also know he didn’t shoot Dante, and anyone who badmouthed him or questioned his integrity, she’d set them straight.
However, Sam’s storyline of wanting to keep Danny away from Jason isn’t the stuff of talented scribes. They obviously didn’t study the characters’ histories. JaSam’s love story has been swept under the rug like it never happened.
And when Sam and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) investigated the FBI, did she not consider that she was doing something highly illegal?
She berated Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) for getting caught on a recording saying she was taking over Sonny Corinthos‘s (Maurice Benard) business.
Sam’s accusations about anyone doing anything illegal make her look hypocritical and foolish. Truthfully, it wouldn’t be surprising if Sam went to prison and Jason got custody of Danny.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Everything About Sam Has Changed
Sam did something similar a few years back when she violated her parole to be with Jason and traded in Scout Cain‘s (Cosette Abinate) and Danny’s ELQ voting shares to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) in exchange for a more lenient parole officer.
Soon after, she broke up with Jason because his lifestyle was “too dangerous.” It didn’t seem right that Sam would become self-righteous.
Keeping Danny away from his father isn’t like Sam. Since Sam was with Drew Cain (then Billy Miller), the character has steadily declined, and everything about Sam’s core has changed.
One of the first acts that the new (but old) writer, Chris Van Etten, should perform as the show’s official breakdown writer is to inject life back into Sam.
JaSam fans are losing their patience and have all but given up hope. And the former couple doesn’t necessarily need to get back together to make the story believable.
But JaSam fans will always want their favorite couple to reunite, even if the writers have made Sam suddenly wary of Jason’s abilities as a father and has moved on with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna).
Even when Dante pointed out that what she did with Spinelli might land her in prison for 20 years, she didn’t seem all that concerned. The old Sam took risks, but she also wasn’t dumb.
The show seems to have given up on Sam entirely. But hopefully, JaSam fans hang in there a bit longer, as there are some significant shakeups behind the scenes at GH.
