‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) are as close as two people can get. Carly may even love Jason in a way that she could never love Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason and Carly’s Romantic Beginning
However, it may not be the type of love that can lead to a romantic relationship. Not with Sonny in the picture. Jason and Carly have been best friends for almost thirty years.
They met at Jake’s bar in 1996 and began an affair that lasted until Jason got together with Robin Scorpio-Drake (Kimberly McCullough).
The two of them were lost, as Jason Morgan, formerly Jason Quartermaine, had an accident that left him brain-damaged and an amnesiac. They found solace and comfort with each other. They didn’t expect anything from one another and could be themselves.
Carly became pregnant by A.J. Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), and since A.J. was a known drunk, Jason agreed to pretend to be Michael’s father.
Jason became Sonny’s right-hand man, and Carly fell for and married Sonny. Jason and Carly were always there for each other and always came first with each other, no matter who they were involved with.
Throughout their many years of friendship, they had an unspoken bond that no one could break. Despite their affection toward each other, they never left the friend zone again after Carly first slept with Sonny.
The three of them were loyal to each other and never looked back. While Sonny and Carly became a super couple, some fans never forgot the spark between Carly and Jason.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The End of A New Beginning
Those fans got their wish in September 2021 when Carly and Jason were married. Sonny was presumed dead, and they needed to take over Sonny’s business and secure power to protect their family.
The two of them started to have romantic feelings for each other again and were about to consummate their marriage when Sonny came home from Nixon Falls.
Just like the unspoken bond between them, there were no words said and no “break-up.” Jason simply took off his wedding ring, and the look on his face said that while he loved Carly, she belonged with Sonny.
Jason never had a conversation with her about it, and they moved on. Shortly after, Jason was presumed dead.
When he returned, some fans hoped Carly and Jason would finally reunite. Their reunion was warm and bittersweet.
Recently, Carly told Jason that sometimes she wished that she had never fallen in love with Sonny and that she had stayed in love with him.
Jason replied that he liked their relationship as it was. Carly said, “I do, too.” As long as Sonny is around, alive, and available, there will be no “Jarly.”
Laura Wright said last month in an interview,
“I don’t think Jason trusts Carly with Sonny in the picture, you know? I feel like if they were together, they would have to be all in and ride into the sunset together. I don’t feel like they can reside in the same town with Sonny and function. I think they have to be left alone.”
