General Hospital (GH spoilers have revealed a new job for Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), which is making some fans of the show happy. The character, who was once part of a super couple with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) returned this year to not only get involved in Anna’s investigation into her past, but he’s also helped Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard) with his trip to find Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). Currently, he’s getting pressure from a couple of sides to reveal Dante’s whereabouts, as well as dealing with being forced out of the WSB.

While this looked like it could be the end of Robert on the show, the character now has a new purpose. He recently revealed to Laura Webber (Genie Francis) that he has a law degree. This turned out to be very helpful to Port Charles law enforcement. They’re in need of a new DA in the wake of Margaux Dawson’s (Elizabeth Henderickson) resignation. Lucky for the town, he’s more than happy to step into the job, and a bigger role on the series.

It looks like fan-favorite Robert might be starting this new chapter with a bang. Recently, his brother, Mac Scorpio (John J. York), was appointed temporary commissioner to allow Jordan Ashford (Brianna Nicole Henry) to heal from her transplant. He entered the job just when things are heating up in the Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) situation, even getting caught in the middle of a dispute between Shiloh’s enforcer and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell). The much-hated Shiloh has been getting away with a lot lately, but Mac’s temp job and Robert’s new position might just finally be the key to getting rid of the manipulative character.

While we only have a few vague memories of the character from back in the soap heyday, we feel we’ve gotten to know Robert well enough to know he’s tough. He doesn’t take crap from anyone, calls things like he sees them, and isn’t one to have the wool pulled over his eyes. He also doesn’t seem to fear much, so he is the perfect one to team with Mac (who is very similar in many ways) to take this con artist down. It won’t be an easy task, as the guy knows how to cover his tracks, but who better than a former super spy to get people to talk?

This could also be good for Sonny. While he and Robert aren’t exactly BFFs, the Turkish adventure mentioned earlier shows that they can work together for a common cause. Robert also doesn’t seem to get carried away with petty grudges, something Sonny had to deal with when Margaux was in charge.
The Shiloh case, and the abundance of crime in Port Charles ensures that Robert will be a very busy man for a while to come. And we’ll be enjoying every minute of it.
