‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers is saying that this is one daytime television star that is moving forward and moving on up! There are new reports that say ‘General Hospital’ alum Matt Cohen has been named as a new Entertainment Tonight co-host. As many fans can recall, Matt was best known for his role as Griffin Munroe, the priest-turned-lover for both Ava Jerome (Maura West) and her daughter Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) on the hit ABC soap. For now, it doesn’t look like Matt Cohen will be returning to his soap roots and that’s mostly because he will be too busy rubbing elbows with Hollywood stars on Entertainment Tonight. He will be spending more time hitting the red carpet to get all of the latest gossip, info and news on the stars and what they have been doing.
Matt Cohen says that he’s been enjoying his new role, as he’s also been working as a guest correspondent for the show for the last several months. He told Soaps in Depth in a new interview, “I think I just met some good people at ET and they liked me enough to bring me into that world. It’s freedom to be find of my goofy old self and talk to some very interesting people. One thing led to another and things just have been working out there. We are gonna give it a go and see what happens.”
And while his new role includes talking to A-list stars like Tom Hanks and Amy Poehler, Matt is not nervous one bit. After all, he was one of the most popular actors on daytime television, right? He added, “I don’t really feel nervous as much as I’m super interested to talk to the people that I meet. For me, it hasn’t been like, ‘Wow. I’m so starstruck. How am I going to pull this off? It’s just, ‘Oh, wow. I get to talk to some of the people that I respect in front of the camera and behind the camera.’’”
