‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal that Jon Lindstrom, who plays psychiatrist Kevin Collins on GH, recently dished to TV Line about his return to GH and his future in Port Charles.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Technically, Lindstrom Can Do Both Shows
Lindstrom made his way back to his old stomping ground at GH on December 2nd. He’s been off having a blast on the new soap, Beyond the Gates, where he gets to play tough guy mobster, Joey Armstrong.
The actor points out that his decision to trade Port Charles for Fairmont Crest was easy. Kevin hadn’t been on GH in quite a while.
Lindstrom shared,
“I haven’t really seen him have a story since the show, Port Charles, or unless Ryan was around, so it was kind of a no-brainer.”
Technically, the actor is willing to do both shows, but BTG has taken up a lot of his time, which Lindstrom is happy about.
GH found a way to make a visit work. Lindstrom explained that GH stacked up a bunch of shows over a couple of days. Lindstrom said that the show made it worth his while.
Plus, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) needed Kevin back since she’s going through a terrifying ordeal right now.
Laura recently discovered a very dead Professor Henry Dalton (Daniel Goddard) in the trunk of her car. She immediately called mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Lindstrom Loves Working With Genie Francis
Returning to the soap he first joined over thirty years ago has been an emotional experience for Lindstrom. He said,
“I love those people. I love all of them. So many great things in my life are a direct result of my association with General Hospital.”
He told TV Insider that upon his return, he reconnected with his on-screen wife, Genie Francis. Lindstrom said,
“I love working with Genie, and she and Johnathan Frakes and I have become really close friends.”
Lindstrom commented that playing Kevin is like
“slipping on an old suit.”
He reported,
“It did feel like going back to my hometown. They say you can’t go home again. I don’t know if that’s true.”
Upon his return, Kevin will be involved in Laura’s current storyline. Lindstrom praised,
“Genie, who never slouches, never walks through a scene, is just terrific in this story.”
He continued,
“Kevin doesn’t love her relationship with Sonny, but he also understands it. Being the shrink that he is, he understands the value of human connection.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Michele Val Jean Has Written A Lot of Great Material for Lindstrom Throughout His Career
Michele Val Jean, who used to write for GH but now writes for BTG, has written some excellent material for Lindstrom. She wrote all the Ryan/Kevin stuff, and now she’s writing for him as Joey Armstrong on BTG.
Lindstrom expressed how much he loves his work on BTG,
“Boy, I’ll tell you, Mick Jagger was right when he said, ‘Do what you love, it keeps you young.’ I get up every morning and go to work. I want to work. I want to be a part of this, and it’s really wonderful.”
Right now, Lindstrom is juggling several creative projects. His new book, “Hollywood Payback,” will be released in April 2026. His first book was a thriller novel called “Hollywood Hustle.”
Lindstrom said he would be open to another trip to Port Charles. He explained,
“It all comes down to scheduling. I’ll do GH anytime. I just don’t know if we can work it out. I’m busier than I’ve ever been, and I thought I’d be retired by now!”
