‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers tease that John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) share a romantic spark or the super spy is setting him up.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: John and Anna Bonded Over Drinks
Recently, John and Anna bonded over their respective bad days. John is the over-eager FBI agent, and Anna is the dutiful but somewhat reluctant police commissioner.
The two were adversaries when John first returned to Port Charles, as John had been doing everything he could to take down mafia boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
But Anna (supposedly) realized that John had a good reason to go after Sonny. Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) confided in Anna that he would kill Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) under Sonny’s orders.
Anna dismissed Dex, telling him that if it came out that he was incriminating Sonny, he would pay for it with his life.
On his way out, Dex informs Anna that he is her man and that she should never need help taking Sonny down.
In the meantime, John was getting raked over the coals by Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton). He attempted to interrogate Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) about Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
The two commiserated over a few drinks. Anna apologized to John, telling him she now saw Sonny clearly and that John was right to want to put him behind bars.
It was difficult not to notice the brewing chemistry between Anna and John during this time. The two connected on a level we had not yet witnessed until that point.
Anna admitted to John that she always gave Sonny a free pass because he supported her daughter Robin Scorpio-Drake, MD (Kimberly McCullough) when Stone Cates (Michael Sutton) died, and she wasn’t.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Viewers Are Puzzled About Anna’s Motives
It was difficult to determine whether Anna was genuinely sincere about her sudden change of heart regarding Sonny, and many viewers were left puzzled. Was Anna setting John up and not Sonny? Time will tell.
Nonetheless, the two of them seem to share a mutual attraction. Unless Anna is playing him, but to what end? Anna is typically upfront when she disapproves of someone’s methods.
If Anna is honest, John and Anna turn out to be powerful forces of nature, especially if they team up to take Sonny down.
However, many fans hope Anna is playing John. The super spy part of her is awakened to uncover the truth about Agent Cates.
Anna is an intelligent, formidable woman, usually able to spot a fake from a mile away. Since John is blackmailing Jason, it would be awesome if she discovered what John is holding over Jason’s head and exposed him as a dishonorable FBI agent, which many people in Port Charles have already figured out.
Not to mention, Sonny stood by Anna after she accidentally shot Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez), and he was there plenty of other times. Sonny has been loyal to her, so why would she suddenly turn on him?
It will be interesting to see what happens between John and Anna. Good chemistry is a valuable commodity in soaps.
