‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers were shocked when Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) was shot and seemingly killed on Friday, November 17’s episode.
The timing seemed like an obvious nod to it being done by Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) or one of this goons, but it also seems too perfect.
While that question makes its rounds on social media, we have another one: Is Roger Howarth getting another character?
One thing is for sure, it seems like Roger is too flexible for his own good.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – What’s next?
While we were starting to like Austin, he never seemed to find his groove. His entrance at helping Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) was pretty cool, but after that it seemed like the writers couldn’t really find a groove for him.
He went from wanting his part of the Quartermaine estate to owing his life to Cyrus for paying his way through medical school.
But he did get more interesting the last couple of months as his connection to Cyrus deepened as well as his feeling for Ava Jerome (Maura West) became more apparent with each episode, culminating with him confronting Cyrus on a couple of occasions over being down and Ava’s well being.
While there’s always a chance he could survive if someone like Ava happens to come by and finds him in time, but it looks like he’s done for.
And if he is, what’s next?
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Is Todd Manning returning?
Given how the writers seemed unable to get Austin any real traction until recently, they may feel safer going back to an earlier character he played on ‘One Life To Live’.
While his character Franco Baldwin was very popular, ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers doubt he’ll rise from the dead, so that leaves arguably his most popular character Todd Manning.
This feels like a genuine possibility since Todd’s wife Blair Manning (Kassie DePaiva) appeared on ‘General Hospital’ to twist the screws on Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight).
It was only for two episodes, but it got us and fans excited to see more of her, and this could be a way for the writers to bring her and Todd back to Port Charles on a more regular basis and could lead to them reconciling, unless they did so off camera at some point.
There’s a few options the writers have and we’re curious if killing Austin is a way to bring Todd back or will Austin cling to help to stay with Ava.
