Okay, we have to admit that when it comes to how Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss)’s demented mind works, ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers aren’t sure what to expect.
We love and hate the character, and that’s a tribute to the writing and acting, but there are so many times he’s gone too far and yet somehow finds a way to make things right.
And when it comes to Ava Jerome (Maura West), we think he’s as unpredictable and psychotic as Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) was and that’s saying something.
While Ryan was a noted and respected psychopath, Nikolas is considered a wayward child looking to find his way. Granted, Nikolas hasn’t killed for Ava officially, but we think he finally did when he shot Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth).
The question is, did he do so to set Ava up as payback for nearly killing him, or was he helping her?
Let’s dig in a little more.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Thinking alike
While Ryan returned by appearing in Ava’s dreams a few years back, Nikolas returned to Port Charles and tormented her by using her slain daughter Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin), whom Ryan killed in 2019, to push her to the brink of her sanity.
Like Ryan, Nikolas started to fall in love with her and when his plan fell apart he managed to convince her to give him a chance and off they went.
As their relationship soured and she rebuked every effort he made to protect her and win her over by taking everything away from him he tried to respond and she bashed him over the head and thought she killed him.
Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) arrived and saved him without her knowing, and yet another love interest tormented her. At least Austin didn’t mean to. Not to the extent she suffered anyway.

And now months later and ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers are getting the same feeling we did from Ryan when he wanted to win Ava over by torturing her, and the note Ava received could be the clue.
It seems like whomever killed Austin did so to help her, but how we’re not sure. It feels like a way to mess with her emotions and head to destabilize her.
Since we already suspect Nikolas is the one trying to buy Spoon Island to reclaim Cassadine property, in his mind he could be thinking he’s helping her and will make everything as it was before they split up.
If that’s the case, this isn’t going to end well for either of them.
