‘General Hospital’ spoilers reveal that fans have been praising Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) character evolution from “Stone Cold” mobster to a caring father and loving son.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Has Become More Emotional Since Sam And Monica Died
Since Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) passed away, we’ve seen a softer, gentler side to Jason. The first time we ever saw Jason truly wearing his heart on his sleeve was after Sam died.
He sat by her bedside at the hospital and poured his heart out to her and cried. We were finally treated to a JaSam tribute that did the super couple justice. We are firmly convinced that Sam’s murder changed Jason in a way that nothing else could.
Once Jason grappled with the fact that he was Danny Morgan’s (Asher Antonyzyn) only remaining parent, he stepped up for his teenage son in a major way. Jason wanted to be a more stable, responsible parent for Danny and do right by Sam.
He put Danny first by moving into the Quartermaine mansion with him. He also informed Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) that it was time for them to think about retiring from the “business.”
Jason now seems more accepting of Sam’s stance that his lifestyle was too dangerous for Danny. He no longer wants to be overly involved in Sonny’s world and has instead embraced his inner Quartermaine.
These days, Jason’s tender and emotional side far outweighs his legendary Stone Cold persona. He’s no longer the robotic, obedient soldier for the sole purpose of being Sonny’s right-hand man.
Burton’s scenes after his beloved mother, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charlson), passed away were the stuff of soap opera gold.
Jason was heartbroken over the loss of Monica. Sadly, it was too late for her to hear him finally refer to her as “Mom.” It was equally touching and bittersweet.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Is a More Multi-Layered Character
Jason is also the only one who seems to bring out the best in Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thieabaud). Their chemistry still resonates strongly on-screen. When Jason went to find Britt in Croatia, it was clear he still carried a torch for the brunette bombshell.
While the pair haven’t moved toward romantic territory yet, it’s evident that the writers will “go there” very soon. Jason is an expert at breaking- down Britt’s emotional wall and getting her to open up.
No longer is Jason exclusively entangled in Sonny and Carly Spencer’s (Laura Wright) drama; he’s become his own man, and fans couldn’t be happier.
We all know how much Jason loves Sonny and Carly, but he has officially developed and moved beyond their influence. Jason is still Jason, but he’s become deeper and more sentimental over time.
Character growth on the soaps is often hard to come by, and the writers have proven that changing Jason’s lifestyle and attitude doesn’t mean the fans will be bored.
Jason is now a multi-layered character, and Burton has learned to balance his dark side with a softer, kinder demeanor.
He now has multiple screen partners, and his scenes with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) after Monica’s death were beautifully written and acted to perfection.
Many fans view this new and improved Jason as a positive change. We hope the soap continues to move Jason in this direction.
