‘General Hospital’(GH) spoilers reveal that Emma Samms will reprise her role as Holly Sutton on the show, who is set to return in early September.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Holly Returned Last Time To Take Down Victor Cassadine
When Holly returned last time around, she was there to take down Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).
Victor killed Holly’s sister, Paloma Perez (Emma Samms), and kidnapped her and Luke Spencer’s (Tony Geary) son, Ethan Lovett (James Ryan). Not to mention, he killed Luke in 2022. It was said that Luke died as he lived in excitement.
Luke was involved in a cable car accident in Austria. It was later suggested that the evil Cassadine had a hand in his death.
Holly worked with Selina Wu (Lydia Look) to drug Victor’s drink so that Holly could blackmail him into releasing her son Ethan, whom Victor had kidnapped and held hostage by Victor as a way to control Holly.
The last time Holly was in town, she also stopped Victor from wiping out 80 percent of the population with the Cassadine weather machine, devised initially by Victor’s brother, Mikkos Cassadine (John Calicos).
The last time Sutton exited the sudser, she said,
“It was the perfect ending in as much as it wasn’t really an ending.”
Holly left Port Charles to search for Ethan.
“It left the door open for so much more for Holly and Robert,”
The actress explained.
Holly returns to the canvas at the same time Jonathan Jackson will return as Lucky Spencer. It will be interesting to see the two of them cross paths.
The question remains: Does Holly’s return mean that Robert Scorpio (Tristian Rogers) will once again ditch Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) for Holly? Unfortunately, despite our pleas to give Diane a good storyline, not much has transpired between them.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: A Robert And Holly “Reboot?”
That may leave room for a romance between Holly and Robert. Holly first met Robert through Luke after his beloved Laura Collins (Genie Francis) was presumed dead. Before Holly was with Robert, she was in a relationship with Luke.
When Luke was presumed dead, Holly discovered that she was pregnant with his child, and she was about to be deported.
Robert thought he would do right by Luke and marry Holly to keep her in the States and help her raise the baby. Their marriage was only supposed to be temporary, but the two fell in love for real.
Luke returned to find Robert and Holly married. He was heartbroken. The three were entangled in a triangle, but Holly quickly realized she loved Robert.
Robert and Holly were among the most popular couples in GH history, no disrespect to Luke and Laura. It’s anybody’s guesstimate where the writers will take the character, Holly when she returns.
About the positive viewer reaction to her last stint on the show, Sutton told Soap Opera Digest,
“I’m relieved they enjoyed what I did before. It meant the world to me. That’s who we’re doing this for; everything we do is for them, and their enthusiasm and support is what motivates me. I feel I have to get it right to entertain them; that’s what absolutely motivates me.”
