‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicates that Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) is really sick of the situation he is being put in by Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey). But is Austin strong enough to do anything about it or is he too scared?

Mason Gatlin is Austin’s cousin. Mason works for some “boss” who is into illegal activities. This boss paid for Austin to go through medical school. Because he did, Austin is going to have to work for the mob forever.
Whenever they need someone “patched up” off the record, they come in to see Austin and he has to do the work. Mason tells Austin that there is no way for him to get out of this situation.
Right now, Mason is putting the squeeze on Austin in regard to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Austin has to collect information on Sonny’s work with Pikeman. To do this, Austin is using his relationship with Ava Jerome (Maura West).

Ava was once involved with Sonny Corinthos. They have a daughter, Avery Jerome-Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola). After Ava hit Nikolas Cassidine (Adam Huss) with a statue and he fell, she thought that he died. She couldn’t find a pulse. Austin came upon the situation and helped her hide the body.
Because of this, Ava was beholden to Austin because he knew her secret. The problem was that Mason also showed up and took Nikolas’ body. As a result, Ava has been susceptible to both of them.
Austin was squeezing Ava to get dirt on Sonny because Mason was squeezing him. However, in the midst of this drama, Ava and Austin started a relationship. They have slept together and are developing a close connection. For this reason, Austin is becoming more reticent to put Ava or her daughter in danger.

Austin wants “out”. He is tired of Mason showing up in his office at the hospital. He is also tired of Mason pushing him to use Ava and Avery. When he tells Mason this, it doesn’t seem to make a difference to him. He says that Austin will be under his thumb forever.
