‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers are curious at some upheaval in the ‘General Hospital’ writing staff according to reports as fans have gotten what many have wanted.
Co-head writer Patrick Mulcahey has reportedly been fired from his position after three months and was replaced by Chris Van Etten as he was put back into his previous role.
The news came initially from Buzzworthy and quickly spread online.
For many, it’s a welcome change from the chaotic, see what stick style they were doing along with changing several characters in what ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers thinks is a soft reboot.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Didn’t take long
Assuming the reports are true, it didn’t take long for the show to reverse course on one of their head writer changes they made.
Three months ago, the show replaced co-head writers Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor with longtime soap opera writers Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte.
Patrick’s career goes back to ‘Search for Tomorrow’ in 1979 and Elizabeth was one of the show’s script writers and historian.
Given her career, it seems the numerous character changes that never made any sense could be Patrick’s responsibility, but that’s pure speculation on ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers’ part.
Since the show usually shoots a month in advance, we probably won’t see their new material until sometime this summer, but there have already been some changes to tone down the frantic nature the show has recently shown.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Time to fix things
The change couldn’t come soon enough for us and many other fans as the last three months have seen characters seemingly lose their minds as they forgot what Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) did for a living.
They make Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) do a full 180 on Sonny, with Anna actively recruiting Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) for the information he could provide, then saying she changed her mind.
Not to mention undercutting Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna)’s commitment to the police in a Neo McCarty type of attitude, and Laura seemed to forget everything Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) did, including having a bomb go off that resulted in her daughter still being in a coma.
It got to the point where the good episodes were ones without Laura and Anna until they settled Anna down some.
There’s some good potential going on, but after Dex told Anna everything about Sonny, he had the nerve to try to tell Sonny he’s not his enemy on Friday, May 17’s episode.
There’s a lot of damage to be undone, and we wish the writers good luck. We still would’ve preferred the replacement writers, but it’s a step back to getting the show on track.
