‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers tease that everyone is talking about who Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will end up with when he returns to Port Charles.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Had True Feelings for Britt
When we last saw Jason, he was heartbroken over losing Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) when Sony Corinthos (Maurice Benard) returned home from Nixon Falls. He was entangled in a relationship with Carly’s long-time nemeses, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).
As soon as Sonny walked into the bedroom, where Jason and Carly briefly shared a kiss as husband and wife, the loyal mob enforcer stepped aside and gave Carly back to Sonny.
Before that, he had just broken up with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) to marry Carly. Jason may have revisited his feelings for Carly but also had great emotions for Britt.
They were embarking on a new and exciting relationship when Jason and Carly decided to marry to protect their family.
But Jason and Britt had grown close ever since he escaped from Pentonville, and he rescued her from Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) goons. After that, Jason was shot, and they went on the run.
Jason was with Britt when she was first diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. He supported her and helped her through the painful ordeal.
Fast forward six months later, and Jason dies after he goes to Cassadine Island to rescue his brother, Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), and Britt’s mom, Liesel Obrecht (Kathleen Gati).
A tunnel collapsed on top of him, and he was buried under the rubble. Jason was presumed dead. Britt was devastated when he “died.”
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Britt Never Really Got Over Jason
Unfortunately for Britt, she had to be the one to tell Carly that Jason died rescuing her and her mom. Carly blamed Britt for his death at first. Then realized that Jason would want her to forgive Britt and not point the finger at her. Carly know that Jason wanted to help Britt.
Britt never really got over Jason, and his death haunted her to her dying day, which was New Year’s Eve, 2023.
Britt had a big “birthday” bash, and as she was leaving Port Charles. she was then cut by “the hook,” and the hook was laced with poison. She died in her mother’s arms after saving Josslyn Jack’s (Eden McCoy) life.
But if Jason can return from the dead, why can’t Britt come back, too? It was gut-wrenching to watch Britt die.
Kelly Thiebaud mentioned to Soap Opera Digest that when she found out Burton was leaving GH, she had wanted to leave the show. However, when Jason and Britt were paired up, she decided to stick around for the love story.
Burton was let go from GH due to vaccine mandates that are no longer in place, and he will return to the show in March. Maybe when he returns, Thiebaud can return. Or perhaps he can come back with Britt.
Of course, we did see the body at the hospital. The writers would obviously need to figure out how Britt could have survived.
The door for Jason was always left open, but Britt’s death was supposed to be final. But then again, maybe she didn’t die.
