It’s been reported by Soapoperadigest.com that “Days of Our Lives” alum Kate Mansi will be taking over for Lexi Ainsworth as Kristina Corinthos-Davis.
The news came as Lexi’s final appearance already aired on April 27, and Kate is reportedly already shooting her scenes and she’s expected to debut the week of May 22.
There’s no word yet on why “General Hospital” made the switch, but fans have been begging for Kristina to get more screen time and storylines after hardly appearing the last few years.
In an interesting twist, Lexi’s final episode was the one when Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) insisted on a family picture being taken with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) before Michael’s wedding.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Changing direction?
As we mentioned above, Kristina is a fan favorite and fans have been wanting to see her more, and we could be getting that since she’s appeared a little more as the manager of Charlie’s Pub and Sonny donated funding for the Corinthos-Davis House for homeless youth.
Lexi has left big shoes to fill after being nominated twice for Emmys in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress, winning the award in 2017, but we think Kate will be up to the challenge.
Kate appeared numerous times on “Days of Our Lives” as Abigail Deveraux when she filled in for Marci Miller and gave top notch performances.
Kate joined Marci in creating a slight disturbance among DOOL fans when they both declined to play Abigail full time and the result was the show runner killing off one of the more popular legacy characters to spark a fun murder mystery.
With the recent news of Camila Banus leaving DOOL as Gabi DiMera, we had hoped that Kate could return in that role and there’s still a chance that could happen, depending on the direction of both shows and her time.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: More to come?
There is hope we’ll get to see more of Kristina aside from her above mentioned activities as it was teased we’ll have a Team Sonny and Team Michael war brewing and she’s definitely Team Sonny.
It’ll open up a lot of different storyline opportunities for her and the rest of the family that usually have to wait their turn to be seen or have something to do.
It’ll be a great way to bring them up to the center of attention and allow the top stars a chance to sit back and watch the next generation lay the groundwork to take over when their time comes.
