‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers wonder if we’re the only ones who notice that between Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison), Port Charles seems to have its fair share of deadbeat dads.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Lucky, Liz, And Aiden Should Be A Family Again
Let’s start with the two that are the most infuriating: Lucky and Drew. Lucky has been absent from Aiden Webber’s (Colin Cassidy) life for nearly a decade.
His first scenes with Aiden when he returned to town were emotional and touching. Jonathan Jackson is an amazing actor, and when he’s given good material, he never disappoints.
When Aiden told Lucky that he was gay, Lucky’s response was, “I love you without exception.” He embraced his son and made the big reveal feel safe for his son.
That being said, Lucky has been debating whether he should leave Port Charles and return to Africa. After years of being gone, he just saw Aiden, and now he wants to leave. He said he had “nothing keeping him there.”
His sister, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins), just had a liver transplant, and his mother, Laura Collins (Genie Francis), has asked him to stay. That in itself should be enough. Not to mention, Lucky has intriguing chemistry with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), and it would be nice to see them reunite and be a family with Aiden again.
We hope Lucky grows up, as many of his decisions are selfish, and he acts too immature to commit to a stable life. Like his dear old dad, Luke Spencer (Tony Geary), he’s an adventure seeker, and he often runs away when things get too difficult.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Jason Is A Good Dad When He’s Around
Next, we have the worst example of parenting ever in Drew. After Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) died, he admitted he has no idea how to be a father to his daughter, Scout Quartermaine (Cosette Abinante). It’s always good to be self-aware.
Scout’s mother died, and Jason broke the news to Scout and his son, Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn). Drew couldn’t be bothered to have a heart-to-heart with Scout after the one stable parent she’s ever known has passed away.
Drew was far too busy schutupping his nephew’s wife, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen), and working on his campaign. Scout did come back to the Quartermaine mansion, but it was Willow who comforted her after she had a nightmare.
Jason isn’t the worst dad here but was absent from Danny’s life for about three years. He was protecting Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) from going to prison.
Sam was upset over the situation because Jason put Carly ahead of his own children and left Danny to believe his father was dead. Jason was always drawn to danger, and Sam disapproved of Danny getting caught up in his escapades.
However, Jason is a good dad when he’s around, and lately, he’s proven himself by handling Sam’s tragic death. He is understanding and compassionate, especially with Danny, who’s trying to cope with the loss of his mother.
Some fathers in Port Charles should step up and do right by their kids. It’s time for Lucky, Jason, and Drew to take their parenting responsibilities more seriously.
