‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers share that Alexa Havins has promised viewers that she will make Lulu Spencer her own. Lulu emerged from her four-year-long coma last week on the soap.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Lulu Is Picking Up Right Where She Left Off
Lulu woke up and had no idea how much time she’d missed. True to Lulu’s tenacious spirit, she courageously broke out of Turning Woods when she woke up and recognized Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) voice talking with her doctors about her upcoming transfer to another facility in South Carolina.
She hitched a ride with none other than Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who had no idea that Lulu was the one he was driving back to Port Charles.
Alexa Havins had impeccable chemistry with Josh Kelly, and it would be fun to see Cody and Lulu get together. Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) will be mourning Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) for a while (hopefully), and a Cody and Lulu pairing has the potential to be highly entertaining.
Poor Lulu stopped by her old house to find a child she had never met before there, and when James West (Gary James Fuller) said he’d squeal “stranger danger,” she abruptly took off.
But not before Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) checked out his front door cam, and they saw a figure in a hoodie lifting the key from underneath the flowerpot and coming into the house.
Meanwhile, Lucky Spencer (Johnathan Jackson) and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) saw their security footage of Lulu breaking out of Turning Woods.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Alexa Havins Isn’t Missing A Beat
No doubt, Lulu’s return will shake up the canvas, and so far, Alexa Havins isn’t missing a beat. She has the spunk of the first Lulu, Julie Marie Berman, and her appearance reflects hers.
The second Lulu, Emme Rylan, was a good actress, but she lacked some of what made Lulu a true and tried Spencer. Alexa plays it like you believe she’s the spawn of Luke Spencer (Tony Geary) and Laura Collins).
Havins is also making Lulu her own, as she possesses a relatable quality about her. She seems like the cute girl next door with a fun sense of humor, which is why Cody would be a perfect match.
In a current interview with Soap Opera Digest, Havins admitted she didn’t watch Julie or Emme’s clips as she didn’t want to “fall into accidentally mimicking them.”
“I actually went the opposite route and watched a lot of Luke and Laura,”
She mused (which you can totally see in her work) as
“these are her parents, and she has some of their qualities,”
She said.
Alexa also did her homework and researched the internet to find out what fans loved about Lulu, as she wanted that to come through as well.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Casting Department Struck Gold
Havins pointed out that she wanted to bring a sense of maturity to Lulu, “but I still want to have that spark in her, but then still love and a softness, but then, you know, be ready for anything, that jumps into action side of Lulu that’s like ‘Let’s Go,” she revealed. “That jumping in before you think quality.”
Havins played Babe Carey on “All My Children” and said it was “very flattering” that GH considered her for the role of Lulu.
She mentioned being on both sides of a recast where when she left AMC, Amanda Baker assumed the role.
“You’re happy for the next actress, and you wish them well, but you’re kind of protective of your character….”
Havins knew Lulu would be “picking up right where she left off.” To Lulu, it’s still November 2020, and the explosion just happened.
The casting department did one hell of a job making sure they found the right Lulu, as Havins seems poised and ready for the challenge.
“I think you just have to take it and run with it and make it your own,”
Havins declared.
