‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicates that Wednesday, September 6th is a big day for Nicholas Chavez (Spencer Cassadine). The young budding actor turns 24 today. It looks like Nicholas is ringing in his 24th with an incredible trip to Japan and a visit to Mt. Fuji. Congratulations Nicholas! What a way to celebrate!
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: New to the Screen
Nicholas Chavez has not been on the acting scene for long. He was born in Houston, Texas, but moved to Colorado when he was just five years old. His parents divorced and Nicholas spent time with his parents between the cities of Denver and Arvada.
While Nicholas was into outdoor sports in Colorado and played football for school, drama quickly captured him. He participated in speech and debate and then was cast as the lead Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. That was the experience that caused him to be bitten by the acting bug.
He spent time volunteering and learning at the Visionbox Studio Theater. Then he applied for drama schools after high school. He was accepted to quite a few different schools but headed to the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers in New Jersey. Chavez completed two years and then dropped out.
He headed to Los Angeles to get a start in acting. In July 2021, Chavez landed the role of Spencer Cassadine. He signed a three-year contract for the role. So far Chavez has been popular. In 2021 he won the Favorite Newcomer Award for Soap Hub Awards.
He also bagged an Emmy in 2022 for Outstanding Younger Performer in a Drama Series. He has also been nominated in 2023 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Tortured Character
Spencer Cassadine is definitely challenging character to play. He feels abandoned by his father, Nicholas Cassadine (Adam Huss) and he feels manipulated by Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl).
Because Nicholas has disappeared and left Esme pregnant with Spencer’s brother, Ace Prince-Casssadine (Jay and Joey Clay), Spencer feels he has to be there for his brother. He is helping Esme raise Ace.
This has caused trouble in his own personal relationship with his girlfriend, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali). It is hard for him to focus on his relationship with her when Esme keeps pulling him away for help with Ace. He is also playing house with Esme, which doesn’t bode well for Trina and Spencer’s romance.
We look forward to seeing what happens with Spencer and how his character develops. He seems to be equal parts bad boy and super sweet, and it’s hard to tell where he is his truest self. Happy Birthday Nicholas! Thanks for bringing life to such an interesting character!
