The Masked Singer spoilers reveal the show is back and the first episode of the season is in the books. As usual, there was a lot of “no, Ken” going on. Plus lots of flashy scenery for the performances. They also didn’t hesitate to brag the premiere featured the biggest audience for the show yet, which is surprising.
They’ve had something at the end of the episodes for a while now saying that health restrictions made them use audience footage from the past. So, who knows? Maybe they’re getting back to normal. Either way, let’s take a look at what went down.
The Masked Singer Spoilers: The format
First, The Masked Singer spoilers indicate the format is, unfortunately, something that didn’t change this season. We eliminating two out of the three every episode doesn’t really give one a chance to connect with the characters. Or give them an opportunity to show what they can do.
We believe there are a couple of people last season that would’ve gone far has this format not been in place. But there was some good news. The premiere definitely featured a much stronger vocal field that a lot of last season’s episodes. We really loved Mustang’s performance of “Here I Go Again” by Whitesnake. So, who did get the boot?
The Masked Singer Spoilers: Shocker
So, this result wasn’t very shocking. While we thought Gnome did well, it was clear Mustang and Medusa were the stronger contestants. However, the identity of Gnome was a total shock. Dick Van Dyke was behind that mask, and we loved seeing him there. Watching him move like he did at 97 years old is total #goals.
Plus, we grew up watching Nick at Nite reruns, so it was total nostalgia to see Rob Petrie on that stage. Look up the episode to see a special extra performance from him that will be sure to bring a smile to one’s face.
The Masked Singer Spoilers: The battle
That being said, The Masked Singer spoilers reveal a winner of the night had to be chosen. So, the remaining two performers battled for the victory. As with last season, both contestants did they own spin on the same song. And we’re still not sold on that part, either. We think choosing different songs for each contestant allows each to do something that will fit them best.
Ultimately, Medusa won that battle, and Mustang was unmasked as Sara Evans. We love her music, so it was sad to see her go. However, we do believe both were equally worthy of a win, so we’re good with the result.
Finally, they did add one more twist that will come into play. There’s a bell that can be used once per group to save a contestant from elimination. So, at least a few people might get a chance to show more of what they can do.
