Disgraced Jussie Smollett wants to revive his career after serving whatever time he gets for lying to the police last year. On Thursday, the former ‘Empire’ and ‘The Mighty Ducks’ star faces a maximum of 15 years behind bars at his sentencing hearing in Chicago.
Smollet, 39, was found guilty on 5 of 6 counts of disorderly conduct for staging a hate crime in January of 2019 in an attempt to “boost his career”. The attempt ultimately backfired and each of the felony charges could carry a penalty of up to three years in jail.

However, Smollet wants to return to work after his sentencing. According to Tom Wilson, a Cleveland-based investor, “He [Jussie] wants to get it over with.” Wilson has known Smollet for 15 years and thinks that Smollett’s charges are based on the corruption of the Cook County justice system.
Obviously, anyone who can read can see that Smollett was clearly guilty for his actions and attempting to fake a hate crime. It was his own sheer stupidity that has landed him in this situation and not the attorney who is responsible for prosecuting the case.
Just last month, Smollett’s legal team filed a motion to throw out his guilty verdict or conduct a new trial. They claim the case was used as a “lightning rod for the political divisions plaguing the country.”
Sure, Smollett paying off two Nigerian-born brothers to “attack” him and promote his career because he was unhappy with his salary on ‘Empire’ was the court’s fault. The fact that he left the noose around his neck in his apartment for the police to see was the attorney’s fault.
Smollett may very well return back to the acting world. We’ve seen the kind of low-life hooligans that Hollywood welcomes with open arms. He would be a perfect fit.
