When the Queen forgets to name check you, you know you’ve done something wrong. Many fans and critics alike have noticed that Queen Elizabeth did not mention Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s names during her annual Christmas speech this year.
However, she did name check Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William and Kate Middleton, but seemingly forgot to say anything about the Sussexes or her son Prince Andrew for that matter. Here’s what you need to know.
Did Queen Elizabeth Snub Prince Harry And Meghan Markle In Her Christmas Speech?
During her speech, the Queen praised Charles and William for their environmental work and also noted that they were supported by their wives, Camilla and Catherine.
Her Majesty said: “We see our own children and their families embrace the roles, traditions and values that mean so much to us, as these are passed from one generation to the next, sometimes being updated for changing times. I see it in my own family and it is a source of great happiness. Prince Philip was always mindful of this sense of passing the baton. That’s why he created The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.”
She also added, “It remains an astonishing success, grounded in his faith in the future. He was also an early champion of taking seriously our stewardship of the environment. I am proud beyond words that his pioneering work has been taken on and magnified by our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William – admirably supported by Camilla and Catherine.”
And while there was no mention of Harry or Meghan, Queen Elizabeth did mention their daughter Lilibet when she spoke about the new royal additions to the family this year. Now, whether or not Harry and Meghan plan on going back to London in 2022 remains to be seen, but so far the couple have made no comments about their future travel plans.
