British Royal Family News find that during their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday night, both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle suggested that the royal family did nothing to defend or protect the couple from the constant attacks they were getting from the British tabloids.
In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said the royal family believed there wasn’t much that could be done and that’s just the way things are for many family members behind closed doors at Buckingham Palace.
But could this be really true? Maybe, maybe not as royal critics are now wondering if Prince William might have magically used his royal superpowers to shut down a story that suggested her was cheating on Kate Middleton with Rose Hanbury. Here’s what you need to know.

As many royal fans can recall, there was a tabloid story that suggested the Duke of Cambridge was cheating on his wife while Kate was pregnant with their third child back in 2018.
Yet, somehow, and mysteriously, the story managed to disappear from the press and tabloid media. Since then, the Cambridges have not been seen with Rose or anyone else in their supposed circle of friends in the Norfolk area.
When In Touch magazine published an article about the rumors in April of 2018, reports say that Prince William’s legal team reached out to many UK outlets and threatened them with legal action if they even dared to publish the story.
This, of course, has a lot of people wondering why the royal family didn’t step up to protect Meghan Markle from all of the racist headlines and libel stories that were generated while she and Harry were still full-time working members of the royal family.
Harry and Meghan told Oprah during their interview that the royals simply told them to “lay low” whenever there were damaging headlines made with Meghan’s name in them. However, Meghan said that “laying low” was the only thing she did, as she was rarely seen out and about during her time at the palace.
Yet, that same advice wasn’t given to Prince William or Kate Middleton. In regards to the cheating stories, She Knows blogger Louisa Ballhaus puts it this way, “Notably, William had the privilege of launching a counterattack before his rumors were even allowed to become headline news in the UK, rather than Harry and Meghan’s forced option of litigating damaging headlines retroactively.”
A lot of royal critics seem to agree. Some comments have included, “It’s clear they are perfectly able to not only complain and explain, but take steps to influence coverage. They just refused to do so for Meghan so she could be used as a human shield for Will and Andrew, while she was pregnant no less, with the added benefit of (they hoped) pushing her out of the family,” along with, “ It doesn’t even matter whether the affair actually happened or not, at least not on a surface level. Here, there is proof that the palace WAS able to silence rumors and negative stories and was able to do it so aggressively that reporters in the UK don’t even want to mention William and Rose in the same story.”
