‘Days of Our Lives (DOOL)’ alum, Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) recently spoke with Soap Opera Digest about how much she enjoyed filming the ill-fated engagement party of Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) and Nicole Walker (Ariane Zucker).

No, it wasn’t her alter-ego, Sami coming through and enjoying how Xander Cook (Paul Telfer) burned the house, or at least Eric and Nicole’s marriage down, but being in the room with so many people who she loves to work with.

‘Days of Our Lives’ : Why Alum Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) Loved Filming That Ill-Fated Engagement Scene

“That group scene in the Brady Pub was the first time we had all worked together, sort of socializing with each other—without masks on,” Sweeney explained. “It was the first time I had been with anybody in that type of setting in over a year. Even though it was make-believe, it was a party setting and we all had a moment like ‘this feels so weird’. We were all happy to be together.”

Adding to the fun was the return of Vaughan, with who, along with Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans), Martha Madison (Belle Black) and Zucker, Sweeney gushed about having such a “great time.”

When it comes to her returning stints, Sweeney appreciates the arcs head writer, Ron Carlivati has been giving her, especially this most recent storyline which has just wrapped on screens and in which Sami not only got to destroy Nicole marriage with Sami’s twin brother, Eric’s but in turn, her own.

“I really enjoyed getting to be the cat who ate the canary in Nicole’s comedown and then have it happen to Sami,” she grinned.

Lastly, Sweeney spoke of newcomer Dan Feuerriegel heralding the long awaited return of Sami’s (soon to be ex?) husband, EJ DiMera. “Obviously that was a big deal. It was really fun to engage with the fans about that and to hear so many positive reviews about Dan,” the soap star and Hallmark Channel regular said. “[Hearing] how everyone is so excited to have that character back on the canvas was great.”

It is unknown when, or even if Sweeney will return to her stomping grounds again. Currently Sami is off the canvas after being kidnapped by an unknown assailant.

Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.
