‘Days of Our Lives (DOOL)’ spoilers find this week marked a 45th anniversary on the long running soap for everyone’s (especially Stefano DiMera- Joseph Mascolo) favorite psychiatrist, Dr. Marlena Evans. Deidre made her debut as Marlena on June 21, 1976.
Surprised she even got the role, Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) finds it hard to believe she is still a daytime staple in millions of homes across the world.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) Celebrates 45 Years in Salem…With Her Most Socking Storyline Coming Soon!
As revealed in Days of Our Lives: The Complete Family Album, Deidre says about being offered the role, “I thought there had been a mistake, so I turned it down. A few months later, it was offered to me again.”
It was then she suspected something was really up if the show couldn’t find any other actress to accept the role.
“They made it clear there was no one else who they wanted.” Deidre claims they were shocked at her initial reaction to being cast and why she’d turned the job down and so, “I came on board.”
So, how has DOOL managed to keep Deidre and her iconic Marlena, not to mention the surprise appearances of her doppleganger, Hattie Adams, on the canvas so long? Finding new and interesting (to say the least) storylines for the veteran, of course.
Now, on the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards red carpet, Deidre has let it spill that the upcoming Marlena storyline “will have fans saying, ’I don’t even know if I can go for that!’”
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Say what?
Yes, straight from the actress’ mouth, Deidre admits, “I’ll be curious to see how this plays out” with audiences and that she is nervous about the newest angle to her decades long role.
This coming from a woman who portrayed the Salem Stalker and was possessed by the Devil!
The daytime legend continued to spill, “We’re on the verge of some of it. We’ve got something coming up in about three months.”
You mean we have to wait until the fall to see what Deidre is hinting at, a top-secret storyline so shocking that audiences will be more split than when John Black turned out to be Roman Brady but really turned out to be John Black (Drake Hogestyn) and in which the actress says she, “had such a rockin’ good time, and it’s going to be all on the screen. It’s coming!”
We. Can’t. Wait.
Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC!
