Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that in July 2024, it was confirmed that Ron Carlivati was out as head writer, and Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford would take over as per the new writing regime at Days.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The New Writing Team’s Material Starts On April 23rd
On Wednesday, April 23rd, the material they began writing last year will finally start airing. Days has a unique and unorthodox schedule in that it films six to nine months ahead to keep the cost of production to a minimum.
This differs from the other daytime dramas, which are taped about six weeks ahead. Cwikly and Ford spoke to TV Insider and promised viewers that from here on out, the soap would focus on the core families of Salem super couples and romance, and human relationships.

In other words, Carlivati’s writing style won’t be the foundation of the show as it starts to move away from “fantastical” storytelling, which has become its signature and has been synonymous with Days for some time.
That being said, there will still be those elements peppered throughout the soap, but it won’t be the main act.
Instead, the spotlight will be on the emotional connection between family and lovers, which is the heart of the soap.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Cwikly And Ford Had The Unenviable Task Of Wrapping Up John Black’s Story
When the two writers picked up where Carlivati left off, they were given the seemingly impossible task of doing justice to John Black and his portrayer, the late Drake Hogestyn.

The actor passed away from pancreatic cancer at the end of September 2024. They had to write an exit storyline for the character while also allowing for the possibility that everyone’s prayers would be answered and he would recover and return to the show.
Cwikly and Ford explained, “There were only so many missions the man could be on. His family and friends in Salem, especially Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall), were sort of stuck waiting for him.”
He added, “Realizing he might never come back while praying he would, we needed to craft an exit that honored John, Drake, and the fans.”
Hogestyn approved of John’s exit story prior to his passing. The 60th anniversary of the soap was also a factor in their mission. It’s a huge milestone that’s coming up in November, and they plan to make it a celebration of Days history and the characters.
‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Return Of Bo And Hope Is Huge For The Soap
Quickly, and Ford admitted they are Big Days fans, and the stories they loved to watch growing up influence the stories they are telling now.
The writers want to bring back some old favorites and give more screen time to some of the older vets who play on the soap.

The return of Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) is huge for the soap. Quickly, and Ford are excited for the Bo and Hope fans, who will be over the moon over what they have planned.
Other storylines showcased will be the fallout from EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) shooting and how it affects the formidable DiMera and Kiriakis families.

Quickly and Ford have this message for fans to tease the 60th anniversary: “There will be a gala celebration with the return of many familiar faces, leading to a new umbrella story that takes us into the New Year.
