‘Days Of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers confirm Rachel Boyd has stepped into the role of pregnant teen Sophia Choi and officially took over for Madelyn Kientz starting February 12.

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: The Actress Previously Auditioned For The Role Of Sophia

Rachel Boyd opened up to Soap Opera Digest and talked about how she feels about playing a recast and discussed how she acquired the part.

Boyd admitted she first auditioned for the role when the soap gave out the casting call but obviously wasn’t chosen, and they decided to go with Madelyn Kientz.

The actress explained that she worked at a steakhouse in Ontario, Canada, nine months later. She had a serving job and said she had completely forgotten about the audition when her manager and agent called her.

    They asked,

“Do you remember auditioning for Days of Our Lives? “

    “Of course, I remember,”

She responded. They revealed that she received an exciting opportunity to move to Los Angeles and be on Days.

She was so nervous and taken aback in the best way possible that she botched her next few orders; the steaks weren’t cooked properly, and she forgot to give a few customers their drinks. But it all worked out because she quit, and a few weeks later, she was filming.

Soap Digest asked Boyd about coming to the show to play a pregnant teenager.

“I was a little bit scared,”

    She replied.

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Boyd Wanted To Do Justice To Sophia’s Teen Pregnancy Storyline

“Pregnancy is not something I’ve experienced myself, let alone something like a teen pregnancy, which is very different,”

    She acknowledged.

“I wanted to do justice to an experience that so many women have without knowing myself. I also felt an excitement and honor to be able to play that at a young age,”

    She stated.

“When you’re growing up, you always think about motherhood and things that come with being an older woman. You think you won’t get to play that until you hit those milestones in life,”

    Rachel said.

“But in life, things can happen to you at any age, and those experiences can be universal. So, I was excited to get to delve into something that I didn’t think I would so early in my career.”

    She continued.

Boyd claimed she watched Kientz’s portrayal of Sophia to get a feel for the character and where she’s coming from. She only watched it until she understood the character and took it from there.

She explained that her first scenes were with Leo Howard, who plays Tate Black. He helped her become acclimated to the show.

Deidre Hall, who plays Marlena Evans, was also very helpful to her and gave her advice. Boyd and Ashley Puzemis, who plays Holly Jonas, developed a close friendship outside of work.

    Boyd concluded,

“I think what Sophia and I really have in common is that we are very sure of ourselves and what we want. We aren’t afraid to go after those things and be unapologetic about it. So, the same way Sophia behaves regarding her decisions on the show, I will, as Rachel, be unapologetic about the way I portray her.”
