First, ‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal they made a great addition, in our opinion, when they created the soap-within-a-soap. It was really one of the main good points of the whole Abe kidnapping story.
Each scene was a throwback to old-school action that we loved getting little glimpses of. But this story has found a purpose beyond a distraction for Abe while recovering.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Teaming up
So, recently Kate pitched the idea of getting into TV. Abe’s love of the fictional show steered them toward creating a new soap. But when Body and Soul was cancelled, Abe was crushed. And Kate realized they could simplify their new business idea by buying the rights to the show.
So, again, this gives both characters a purpose and goal outside of the norm. For Kate, that’s been worrying about Lucas Horton (Brian Dattilo). For Abe, it’s been helping Paulina through her guilt over her recent actions.
Now, they get to add something to the town. Not only that, but this is a perfect opportunity for Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) as well. He’s just lost his dream job after Chanel DuPree’s (Raven Bowens) miscarriage prevented him from traveling to LA.
And he’s been looking a long time for something of his own, too, after his failed possession movie. But we see something else in this story.

‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers reveal there are only a few soaps left, a massive drop from the ‘80s and ‘90s. Recently, there was talk of an All My Children spin-off called Pine Valley.
It’s apparently still a thing, but there haven’t been any major developments toward actually getting it on screen. And there is a show in the works called The Gates, but some soap fans wish a classic like One Life to Live was returning instead of a new show.
The recent push to mention the fictional soap more and talk about how it’s a genre on the brink feels like a couple of things. One, a commentary on the state of entertainment these days. The generational shows people love have given way to an endless parade of Lifestyle shows and Talk TV.
Through Abe’s discourse on his love of the show, the show’s made the case for why fans still tune in to the ones left standing. We feel like head writer Ron Carlivati is challenging streamers and networks to step up and answer the fan’s calls for more of their favorites.
