‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers find that fans are none too happy with the direction of Ben Weston’s (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady’s (Victoria Konefal) relationship. Especially now that the embattled couple live continents apart with amnesiac Ciara moving to South Africa with Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson).
Head writer Ron Carlivati was anticipating the backlash but posed the question, “If we had put them together and she didn’t have amnesia and [Ben] rescues her from that room and they’re happier than they could ever be, why does she leave and why does he stay?”

This then begs a question from fans: why hasn’t Ciara been recast?
Konefal has been very candid about her refusal to go back on contract status. She is up for returning for short ‘stints’, but with the Cin relationship being so central to the soap, ‘stints’ just aren’t working any more.
Carlivati conceded that recasting Ciara is “a viable option”, but “one that we didn’t choose to make.” The head writer explained his reasoning further, “While a recast can work, it could also fail.”
We all know that Konefal and Wilson have an insane chemistry that would be hard to emulate for any actress coming into the beloved role, but eventually DOOL will have to decide which is the lesser of the two evils- aggravating fans with Ciara’s coming and going or aggravating fans by recasting Ciara…again.
Carlivati responded to the dilemma, saying, “If there was no other option, then we could talk about a recast down the road. But right now, there was an option and we figured it out with Victoria.”
Could this mean something a little more permanent for Konefal? Already the actress has signed back on for another ‘stint’ this summer, brining Ciara back to Salem. Will she definitely be exiting again as expected or has Carlivati managed to work some magic to keep Ciara, and Konefal in Salem and on our screens?
