‘Days of our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers have found that after a decade, Camila Banus knows her character of Gabriela Adrianna Josephina Hernandez (sometimes DiMera) inside and out.
When we first met Gabi she was the demure kid sister of Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) and Arianna Hernandez (Lindsay Hartley). Gabi, though, soon proved herself quite the troublemaker, just like everyone else who steps foot in Salem. But when and how did she become the most hated woman in town?
‘Days of our Lives’ Spoilers: Camila Banus Pinpoints the Moment Gabi Hernandez Became a BadA$$
As supervillain Gabi sweeps back onto our screens this week, Banus reveals the moment everything changed in the model/fashion designer’s life.
“It was the moment — excuse my language — when she got the $h*t beaten out of her in prison.”
In 2018, Gabi was jailed for killing Andre DiMera. The actual perpetrator turned out to be Abigail Devereaux-DiMera (Marci Miller) in an altered state of mind. In true Gabi fashion she quickly got on the bad side of some pretty tough inmates, especially Diane Cooper (Cassandra Creech) who beat Gabi black and blue. Gabi’s injuries were so severe they left her unable to have more children.
“It was that moment, when she’s getting beaten to a pulp, that she realized that no one was going to come for her. No one was going to save her. She was alone in the world,” Banus explained. “That’s when she realized that she had to fend for herself and she had to do so with her claws out!”
Those claws are definitely out. Badass Gabi is due back in Salem any day now and she will not be a wallflower when it comes to competing with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) for Jake Lambert’s (Brandon Barash) affections. Good luck Kate, I wouldn’t want to be Gabi’s numero uno foe!
