As we all know, the Duggars have been in the news for what seems like centuries, and they’re the closest thing to a celebrities that fundamentalist Christians have. They’ve been on TLC since 2005, with specials and several TV shows, starting with 19 kids and counting and continuing after their big scandal in 2015 with ‘Counting On’.
However, lately, Josh Duggar was brought up on federal charges with two counts of possession of child porn, a sentence that could easily get him 40 years in prison if convicted, and the feds have a 95% conviction rate so there is a good chance that this guy could go away for a long time.
Will Josh ‘Duggar’ his way out of federal charges?
However, let’s face it, the Duggars are far from the humble, fundamentalist family that they were in 2005. They have some successful businesses under their belt, and some even own their own planes. Now they have money, and sometimes, money talks… even in court cases.
Considering JimBob has previously swept Josh’s sins under the rug when he was a minor, whose to say he wouldn’t at least try to get Josh a lighter sentence. After all, Josh didn’t have to endure any kind of therapy for his problem or anything, he got to spend the summer helping someone remodel their house.
But that didn’t solve the problem.
Just from a parents’ standpoint it would seem that JimBob would want this problem solved and taken care of ASAP, but therein lies the problem, of course he wants the problem taken care of ASAP but Josh has a privelege that no one else has, and that is, he is the oldest son of the Duggar family.
In their religion, the oldest son is subject to certain privileges and obviously JimBob wants to keep with that tradition, considering how much he has covered up for Josh in the past.
But would he go as far as to try and bribe a federal judge? They say a Father’s love knows no bounds and he could be trying to set a biblical example for Josh in hopes that he will abandon his sinful ways and become a better person. However, nowhere in the bible did it say for you to resort to bribery in order to get your kids off the hook.
This would be an issue of sin, pride, and potential criminal activity on JimBob’s part of it came down to this. If he’s thinking of trying to get Josh out of this, then he’d do well to sit this one out and just let the chips fall where they may… but, he has the money, and if Josh doesn’t get some sort of punishment for his crimes, we’ll all wonder.
