As we all know, on April 29th, 2021, Josh Duggar of the famed Duggar clan was hauled off to Federal Prison for posession of Child Porn, specifically for children under the age of 12. This wasn’t some photos of a barely legal teen, this was actual children.
The judge has ordered that no bail be set, meaning they have deemed him a danger to minors, and this probably includes the 6 kids that he has Fathered with wife Anna Duggar, whom he married in 2013.
Will Counting On end up cancelled?
We always knew that Josh had a problem, he was the guy that got 19 kids and counting cancelled in the first place after the scandal that rocked the publicity surrounding the show, Josh admitted that he had molested 4 of his siblings and even some neighbor children, causing TLC to cancel the show.
However they came back after rebranding the show as “Counting On” and this time they followed the daughters of the Duggar clan and did not have Josh involved in the program at all. Problem solved, right? Wrong.
Josh said that he had “gotten help” for the problem, his parents got him “christian counseling” in the form of helping someone rebuild their house, I’m guessing to “work off” all that teenage sexual tension he was experiencing when he was 14. However that didn’t keep him from cheating on his wife Anna by signing up for the website “Ashley Madison” and bringing a whole new level of shame for the family.
Now in the wake of this scandal, TLC has released a statement saying that they are “deeply saddened” by Josh’s actions, which, they should be, but at the same time – will this result in the cancellation of Counting On?
No one would blame TLC if they decided to separate themselves from the Duggars entirely, in fact a lot of people would probably applaud TLC for such a stance because glorifying this purity culture is arguably what perpetuated these crimes to begin with. But TLC is fond of the money train and as long as the Duggars continue to bring in viewers and therefore money for them, they may not take a stand. We’ll see. Stay tuned!!!
