‘Counting On’ Spoilers indicate that’s what former friend Jim Holt is claiming. Today was the primary for Jim Bob Duggar’s senate race, and now that Josh has been convicted it looks like a lot of people have a things to say about whether or not Jim Bob’s decision to run for office was appropriate at a time like this or not.
In fact, there was an entire change.org petition to get Jim Bob Duggar removed from the Senate ballot! There’s more than one person who believes it’s inappropriate for Jim Bob to be doing a run for senate right now in the wake of Josh’s conviction and now in the wake of Jana’s own trouble with the law.

It looks like people are wondering why on earth he should be in charge of leadership in Arkansas when he can’t seem to get his own house in order.
In a comment on the change.org petition, Son-in-Law Derick Dillard posted, “Individuals with a long history of lies and deciption do not belong in public office. Candidates need to practice what they preach. As Scripture says “[b]ut be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” – James 1:22” this is the one time Derick Dillard has said something on social media that the general public can agree upon.
He went on to endorse Lisa Parks, one of the candidates running against Jim Bob Duggar, who is a child welfare attorney. “You can avoid voting for a person covering for a pedophile and a person with a no contact order and a long history of signficant allegations.” Go OFF!
Jim Holt however, said that he and his wife Bobye were not going to make any political endorsements, but to vet candidates HARD before voting for them, something which, again, we can all agree on. He did however say this of Jim Bob Duggar, “I can say this and it hurts me to say; Jim Bob Duggar lied to me about the truth of his son when asked to court our daughter.
It was clear he perjured himself on the witness stand at the evidentiary hearing on November 29th, 2021. He said that Mrs. Bobye was a past Elder at our church in the time frame of 2003-2006. Up until November 2006, the church never had women Elders. EVER. (I don’t know what his church does now.)
Jim Bob was always conservative in many areas when I served with him from 2001-2002. The problem I have is… if he lied to his BEST FRIEND and he lied UNDER OATH, will he lie to YOU?”
If you’ve been following the Josh Duggar trial, you’ll know that on the witness stand in the evidentiary hearing, Jim Bob said of the allegations against Josh molesting his sisters that he “could not recall” and was really belligerent with prosecution when questioned.
Derick Dillard went in again on social media after Holt’s post went up saying, “It’s sad that this isn’t an isolated incident. I used to have so much respect for Jim Bob, as my father-in-law, and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt for years.
Unfortunately it’s only become clearer to us over time just how deep this man’s manipulation and deceit will go for his own gain, at the expensive of others. He has lied to my wife and I numerous times. Contrary to his campaign, he does not believe in feedom, but his manipulation has resulted in what is akin to human trafficking.
When confronted privately, he is not humble but he is defensive and verbally abusive. When he says he cannot be bought, the truth is that he has a history of being a sellout to anything that he can personally profit from and he will justify it however he wants to continue his personal agenda. Again, if he has lied and continues to lie to his best friends and his own family, will he lie to YOU?”
These allegations are huge and very damaging. If Jim Bob did indeed perjure himself in a federal trial then he could be facing up to five years in jail, the only thing he has going for him is that perjury cases are really hard to prove and often not pursued.
The judge didn’t take anything he said into account and the feds still got a conviction for Josh, who will probably be sentenced around 75 days after the trial. Still, it seems that Jim Bob is facing media slaughter because of his sins. Stay tuned!!!
