Fans of “Futurama” will still be able to hear Coolio because the late rapper recorded segments for the animated series before passing away. This will allow the show’s creators to give Coolio and his character a fitting send-off. The executive producer of “Futurama,” David X. Cohen, tells TMZ that he was shocked to learn of Coolio’s passing, especially given that he had only recently finished recording lines for their upcoming season.
For those who don’t know, Coolio has previously made an appearance on the show as Kwanzaa-bot, a counterpart to Chanukah Zombie and Santa Claus Robot. He made his debut way back in 2001. The rapper took control of the recording session by creating tracks on the spot for the episode, according to David, who also said that the rapper looked and sounded great as usual when recording his lines.
Coolio Recorded Lines And Raps For ‘Futurama’ Before His Death, Will Appear Next Season
To give him “the best send-off we can,” the “Futurama” team will dedicate his episode to him and include Coolio rapping over the epilogue. David adds, “Coolio was one of my favorite guests. He was always totally upbeat and genuinely enjoyed coming in to record as his character Kwanzaa-bot.” David says Coolio also shared he had picked up a new hobby during the pandemic … sewing!
According to case information from the county coroner, an autopsy performed on Coolio on Thursday did not reveal the cause or manner of his death, and an additional investigation will be carried out. Sheila Finegan, Coolio‘s talent manager said, “We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and client, Coolio, who passed away Wednesday afternoon. He touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be missed profoundly. Please have Coolio’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”
