Lori Vallow Daybell AKA “Cult Mom” met with her attorney Mark Means on October 15th 2021 at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and during their meeting she alleged, according to his new filing that there was “unethical and possibly illegal activity, discussions, disclosures, and manipulations” she said that a clinician at the IDHW watched the hearing for her husband, Chad Daybell and suggested that Lori contact the LDS headquarters legal counse to discuss her case and possibly obtain new legal counsel.

Apparently, part of Lori’s treatment “homework” was to make this call, and in order to fulfill her treatment requirement, she made the call.

However, the motion is alleging that she would not have made this call had it not been part of her treatment. She said she felt forced and manipulated to make the call and would not have made it under any other circumstances.

She made the phone call to the head of the LDS legal counsel, Daniel McConkey, and told him everything about her case which is a Brady Violation Disclosure, they never once informed her that there was a conflict of interest and Lori truly thought that because they were the LDS church that they would have her back through all things spiritual and somehow that would translate into the real, tangible, legal world.

    Ahem.

No, it does not work like that. Instead of calling her back, McConkey made a call to the prosecutor on Lori Daybell’s case, Rob Wood, who in turn made the call to Mark Means that she wanted to hire a new public defender when this was not the case.

In this filing Means alleges that in this case her interest in the LDS church was used against her and she was forced to act against her own self-interest. Basically, Mark Means is alleging that the LDS Church, the Prosecutor, and the IDHW are all conspiring against Daybell in order to violate her constitutional right of due process.

Like it or not, the law is the law and according to the law everyone is entitled to a fair trial and this puts things in jeopardy. We at DSD will keep you updated. Stay tuned!
