CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds star Jess Walton is opening up about her character, Jill Abbott, and the ongoing friction between her and her former daughter-in-law, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Here’ what she has to say.

In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, Jess admits that her character Jill has always believed that Victoria is perhaps the one and only person in Genoa City that can make her son Billy Abbott happy. However, that ship between Billy and Victoria might have sailed, and for several good reasons, too.

Jess told the publication that there has always been friction between Jill and Victoria, too. She said, “You know, Jill has always been fond of Victoria, but she’s never been that great to Jill. Victoria never really gave Jill the time of day. I think for now, Jill has given up on the Billy and Victoria think.”

That might be because Jill perhaps wants to see Lily Winters (Christhel Khalil) has her next daughter-in-law, instead. Jess added, “Jill really did think that Lily would be good for the company because she’s so down-to-earth, while Billy is so heaven bound. Jill really thinks that they will create a nice balance for each other and be good for Chancellor. Plus, Jill thinks that if Billy goes off the rails again, it would be disastrous for Chancellor. She wants Lily to be a safety rail, so Jill had to give them both equal power. Isn’t that interesting? I just came up with that a second ago. Lily is earning her money already.”
