CBS ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (DOOL) spoilers finds that star Don Diamont (Bill Spencer) is one of few daytime television stars who are opening about the George Floyd protests and the current Blake Live Matters movement that is sweeping the nation. Here’s what he has to say.
Sharing a side-by-side photo of San Francisco 49’s Colin Kaepernick taking a knee nearly four years ago with the photo of Derek Chauvin putting his knee on George Floyd’s neck, Don captioned his pic with, “Almost 4 years ago Colin Kaepernick exercised his first amendment right of freedom of expression by taking a knee during our national anthem. It was a peaceful and quiet protest against police brutality, and racial injustice. He didn’t disrespect our flag, but in fact, by taking a knee he held up our flag for everything that it’s supposed to stand for. The freedoms that we enjoy.”

The actor added, “My father-in-law was a police officer for 30 years. What happened to George Floyd was contrary to everything he stood for as a law enforcement professional, and how he conducted himself during a distinguished career.”
Of course, it didn’t take long for Don’s social media fans to respond to the photo. Some were quite conflicted by his post. Some fans wrote, “No disrespect but as a US Marine and widow of a Marine who gave his life defending our flag I disagree. Kneeling during our National Anthem is total disrespect for what our men and women have faught for. I agree with Protest, but protest those you feel done wrong….police stations, jail houses, court houses, etc.” along with, “Well said! I’ve lived in Turlock, CA for 12 years now- (Kap’s hometown) & watched his rise & fall, to watch how this city treated him after he knelt, would make your stomach sick! Now look!”
Another fan wrote, “I’m disappointed you put this on your page. There are so many ways to positively support George Floyd but this one I find is offensive. You should realize that your fan base includes people outside your Hollywood liberal bubble. I understand this is your page and you can post whatever you want but you also have fans that support your career if that matters to you at all I think you should respect that and take their feelings into consideration when you post.”
