Britney Spears has been silent for over a decade about what was going on with her during the conservatorship. Many said she was purposefully silenced and not given a voice. But following her successful fight to be free of the arrangement, the singer is making up for lost time. Let’s take a look at what happened and why Britney made have had a change of heart.
Britney Spears tells her truth
First, Britney Spears has not been shy about calling out her family on Instagram. Although, she does seem to have changes of heart now and then that make her delete the texts in her posts, or take down images with text about her family. However, the singer was left confused when Jamie Lynn made certain accusations about an incident with a knife.
Said the elder Spears, “Congrats, babe! You’ve stopped to a whole new level of LOW. I’ve never been around you ever with a knife, or would I even think to do so.”

After asking Jamie Lynn to stop with the lies for her book, she added, “I’m actually very confused about you making that up, because it’s honestly not like you at all.”
Later, Spears seemed to have a change of heart, as she did another Twitter post where she apologized for some of the wording, but she also expressed disappointment that Jamie Lynn is loyal to those who, “Hurt me the most.” She then went on to congratulate her younger sister on having the guts to do TV interviews, as the idea of one still scares her and she made it clear she loves her sister unconditionally.
Britney Spears takes off the gloves
It seems a lot changed since that last post, and we might know why. There are two possible reasons. One, Jamie Lynn put a story up that almost sounds like a response to the first Twitter post we mentioned. In it, the younger Spears claims that she has tried many times to call and work things out privately, but that Britney chooses to use a public platform for it. Said, Jamie Lynn, “Please stop continuing the narrative that I haven’t been there for you or that I’m making things up.”
Another would be that Spears appears to have watched a full interview her sister gave. In another Instagram post, Britney talks about being shocked at how Jamie Lynn was living life at 12 compared to her experience at that age and how the singer was a “ghost” in her home following the breakup with Justin Timberlake and how Britney should have slapped her and her mother. Why did she say that?
According to Spears, “My mouth was on the floor the way you talked back to Mamma. You were F***ing hateful to her.” She then went on to talk about how Jamie Lynn went on for 20 minutes about the above-mentioned incident and not feeling safe around her older sister.
Britney then addressed the allegations she was never there for Jamie Lynn, saying that “You and your friends all dyed your hair like Christina Aguilera and you no longer would play with me anymore. I never shut you out ever.” She then added, “You can paint it however you like, but dear child YOU shut me out when I needed you the most.”
Britney Spears takes action
In the wake of all the stories coming out of Jamie Lynn’s book, the singer decided it was time to take action. She and her attorney sent a letter to Jamie Lynn. The singer’s attorney, Matthew S. Rosengart, started the letter off by saying that the singer will no longer be bullied, and that she would not/should not be exploited for financial gain.
After mentioning the abuse the singer suffered under the conservatorship, the letter concluded by saying, “She takes you at your word (that the book is not about Britney) and we, therefore, demand that you cease and desist from referencing Britney derogatorily during your promotional campaign. If you fail to do so or defame her, Britney will be forced to consider and take all appropriate legal action.”
