A lot of people were mystified as to just what on earth Britney Spears meant by posting 3 topless photos of herself on IG, and she recently came out with an explanation. She said that this was not a permanent thing and she definitely was not going to continue posting topless photos for the rest of her life, but she’s doing it right now because it’s cathartic for her.
She compared it to taking off a long-sleeved shirt in a hot car in the middle of summer, which is a fairly labored metaphor, but if you really read the entire post, it actually makes sense.

She said that performing when she didn’t really want to made her have a very unhealthy body image and that seeing herself stripped down to how she was when she was born, basically taking back her true identity, so to speak and no longer identifying with the pain of her past (because posing nude is as far from her squeaky clean former disney kid image as you can get), was sort of a form of therapy for her.
There’s several different ways to interpret the post, but from what I could gather it’s just that Britney was just trying to do something different by showing off her body.
Of course some people said things like they were suspicious and thought that somebody else was posting these pictures, but considering how heavily monitored her social media was before, I don’t think that’s the case since she has come out and basically owned the pictures.
She also was quick to decry the rumors of her being pregnant or having implants done, she said that the reason why her figure looks fuller is because she’s been devouring delicious food. Hey, as long as she’s healthy we’re cool with it.
Another thing that gives rise to the idea that it’s actually Britney posting these pictures is the fact that she actually shouted out the #FreeBritney movement in this post. She thanked her fans for being awesome to her and saying that the movement had a far deeper meaning to her than anyone could ever imagine.
The only thing we’re worried about is that the conservatorship might hold these social media pictures against her in an upcoming court battle, but let’s hope that her new attorney can make sure that her freedom of speech rights are protected and get any of that thrown out. Stay tuned!!!
