For 13 years Britney Spears has not been free to drive her own car, be in charge of her own money, or basically make any decisions that one would deem being an adult, except for you know, making sure all of her dancers are paid, choreographing entire routines, and making TV appearances and going on tour.
Yet, according to her Dad Jamie and his legal counsel at one point they said that Britney was like a comatose patient and couldn’t advocate for herself. Things were made worse on social media when it was discovered that she had a company editing all of her posts and making it sound like they were being written by an 11 year old girl in 1992.

However, Britney was recently allowed to hire her own lawyer after do-nothing Samuel Ingham stepped down because Britney called him out publicly in an in-court statement for literally dragging his feet. Former Federal Prosecutor Matthew Rosengart has been named as Britney’s attorney and things have been moving at a decent pace.
Fast forward to today, when it was finally announced that Jamie Spears has agreed to step down from the conservatorship holding his daughter captive.
But before we rejoice let’s look into why Jamie Spears suddenly saw the writing on the wall and why he suddenly wants to bail. It looks like his own legal counsel may have told him to bow out the easy way and save a little face simply because Rosengart wants forensic accounting done on Britney’s estate.
It seems that the shell companies involved in Britney’s estate have not been valued and if Jamie Spears fights too hard about this, he could set himself up to be investigated for tax fraud. This is something that he probably doesn’t want to deal with because let’s face it – Britney is ultimately the one with the money, not Jamie.
Also just because Jamie has agreed to step down does not actually mean that he’s gone yet, it just means that he has agreed to leave that role, but no exit date has actually been given as of yet. Britney recently promised that she wasn’t going to be as open on social media anymore but as soon as her Dad is gone I would expect that promise to he thrown out the window.
