After watching the Netflix documentary, Britney vs Spears, we learned of a fascinating factoid about conservatorships. A conservatorship is, in essence, a legal death where the conservator, usually a licensed third party who is put in charge of a person, but in this case it was Britney’s father, is charged with all legal, medical, and pretty much personal day to day decisions.

So for 13 years Britney has been living as a ghost, stuck on this physical plane but unable to do anything about it. Imagine the frustration you’d have if you had to get permission to take a walk around the block – because that’s essentially what she’s been going through all these years, having to ask permission for the simplest thing, like a child.

    Resurrection Britney

There was some speculation online about how, now that she’s free, if she will be doing music again or performing on-stage, considering she didn’t like the fact that Jamie Lynn performed some of her songs at an award show. Ain’t nothin’ like the real thing, baby, to quote an old mo-town classic.

However, after essentially rising from the legal dead, I think it’s safe to say that famous or not, Britney doesn’t owe the world one thing. We would love to hear from her again, we would love to hear her sing again and see her perform on stage, but only if this time around, it was completely her choice and something that she did without someone breathing down her neck.

Other than that, if she wants to become famous for her IG posts, she can. Hey, it seems to work for the 90 day fiance cast and other social media stars, and also there’s tons of music publishing options these days, so if she wanted to drop an album from her home studio – she could!

The thing is, at this point the fandom is hungry for anything that Britney would make, and the movement would eat it up – but what would make this infinitely sweeter is if Britney were the one heading it up.

Other than that, she’s entitled to a life without pressure, no one said that just because one performs that one needs to perform 24/7 to be happy. She’s been through enough, so if she wants to live solely on instagram for awhile – let her. She’s earned it.
