Robert Jobson, who wrote the upcoming biography Catherine, Princess of Wales, examines Kate’s life, relationship with Prince William, and how she’s become a modern-day royal.
Kate Knew She Would Be Compared To Princess Diana
Kate Middleton knew that when she married into the royal family, she would eventually become the Princess of Wales, which carries a lot of weight.
Catherine also knew people would compare her to Princess Diana, who left an indelible mark on the world. People will never forget her innate kindness and good works.
Diana will forever be immortalized as a humanitarian and a classically beautiful woman inside and out. Her fans will always be enraged or saddened by her death, or both.
In other words, Kate had some big shoes to fill. Kate even contemplated that perhaps, when the time came, she would do what Camilla did and refuse the title. Camillia instead chose the title the Duchess of Cornwall out of respect for Diana.
In the end, she did agree to the title. However, Kate never expected the public to take such a shine to her, and even compare her to Diana in a positive way.
Kate shares the same warmth that radiated from Diana, and both Princess of Wales’s commitment to children’s charities has been met with glowing admiration and surpassed expectations.
Apart from their unwavering dedication to the causes they believe in, Kate and Diana have several unique characteristics.
Kate received a top-class education at Marlborough Cottage from 1996 to 2000. She then earned a master’s degree in art history from St. Andrews University in Scotland, where she met Prince William.
Diana Spencer was born as an aristocrat, while Kate was from a middle-class family. Their childhoods were also vastly different because Diana came from a broken home, while Kate had a relatively scar-free upbringing.
Kate Brought William And Charles Closer
Diana was also stubborn and emotional, and William had some similar tendencies. Kate has influenced the Prince of Wales to be much calmer and more grounded, which has helped him become closer to his father, King Charles.
The Princess is instinctively a “peacemaker” and someone who values family unity. Kate has smoothed over many disagreements between William and Charles and helped them improve their relationship as father and son.
A senior source for the book explained, “In recent years, they have become much closer,” as they spoke about William and Charles.
Regarding Princess Diana and family matters, Kate helped William see his father’s perspective. Kate has always been very “emotionally mature” and is a “stabilizing influence” for William.
Meanwhile, the King sees Kate as his “beloved daughter-in-law.” The two have especially bonded amid their dual cancer diagnoses.
Kate bravely announced her cancer diagnosis in March via video message to the world. King Charles, who announced his cancer diagnosis in February, is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.”
As Kate has undergone treatment, William is never far from her side. He’s helped her care for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Kate has shown him the stability he lacked as a boy. And he’s happy to return the favor.
