King Charles has always shared a special bond with Kate Middelton. It appears that now more than ever, Kate and Charles need to lean on each other. Kate is facing a cancer diagnosis, and King Charles is also battling the disease.
Kate is the Daughter Charles Never Had
Charles and Kate have been close for a long time. He describes her as his
“darling daughter-in-law.”
The two of them have a warm and genuine connection that has been evident for years.
During his wedding speech to Prince William and Kate, Charles said that Kate is like
“the daughter he never had.”
Since William and Kate’s beautiful wedding ceremony, their bond has deepened.
They continuously sought each other out whenever they attended royal engagements together, and they even liked to joke lightheartedly with each other.
We often see Kate pictured with King Charles smiling and laughing. The affection that Kate has for Charles is something that she and Camilla have in common.
During a visit to Kenya with Camilla, Charles made a reference to William’s proposal to Kate in October 2010.
“It was here, in sight of Mount Kenya, that my son, The Prince of Wales, proposed to his wife, now my beloved daughter-in-law.”
William asked for Princess Catherine’s hand in marriage in a log cabin while on a safari at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
Kate and Charles have a good relationship, and she has also helped bring her husband and father-in-law together in times of strife. Kate helps William keep a good head on his shoulders.
While Charles and William’s relationship has been rocky in the past, Kate brought the family together. In November 2018, she organized a family portrait for Charles’s 70th birthday. It’s only been in recent years that the King and William have become closer.
Charles Is Very Proud of Kate
Kate has a sweet, loving nickname for Charles. She calls him “grandpa.” She calls him that because her children, Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte, call him Grandpa.
King Charles also visited Kate in the hospital after her surgery, which doesn’t seem all that surprising, but it kind of is.
The royal family doesn’t often like to draw attention to themselves or their loved ones. It’s a tradition that Queen Elizabeth followed, as the Queen would not typically go to Prince Philip’s bedside and vice versa.
Charles and Kate share similar interests, such as art and music. And, of course, Charles adores his grandchildren. The King thinks she is doing a “wonderful job” raising George, Louis, and Charlotte.
Charles’s reaction to Kate revealing her cancer diagnosis is one of great pride. He is very proud of Kate and admires her courage to speak as she did. In some ways, Kate is closer to Charles than Charles is to William.
But it’s Kate’s courage that is most impressive, not just with her speaking so candidly about her diagnosis, but as an asset to the royal family.
Charles appreciates Kate’s strong-willed nature and sense of duty. The Princess of Wales will one day be Queen, and she has already proven that she is up to the task.
Our Hearts and wishes for Princess Catherine’s recovery are with her and the royal family. She is well-loved by everyone, and we have nothing but admiration for her courage and strength to speak out and share her fight with the world.
