King Charles and the royal family have endured a “brutal year,” according to Prince William. The royals have reason to celebrate. King Charles intends to make sure that they will mark the occasion together this Christmas.

Christmas At Sandringham Is A Tradition Started By Queen Elizabeth II

This year, King Charles and Kate Middleton have faced dual cancer diagnoses, and while Princess Catherine has completed her chemotherapy, Charles is still undergoing his treatment.

    A royal insider commented,

“It has been a very difficult and challenging time, but the feeling is they are over the shock and the worst of it, and everyone is feeling very optimistic about 2025.”

Charles is hosting one of the largest royal family Christmas gatherings ever at Sandringham. Forty-five members of the royal family will spend the holidays at the King’s private estate in Norfolk.

Christmas at Sandringham is a tradition started by the late Queen Elizabeth II, and Charles will carry on the beloved holiday custom.

It was speculated that Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, would have a low-key holiday at Anmer Hall, but it looks like they will take part in this very special Christmas with the rest of the royals.

Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, Zara and Mike Tindall, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Prince Edward, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and their children, Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex, and others are among those on the guest list.

Queen Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, will attend Christmas at Sandringham for the first time. It’s a departure from past Christmases. Tom noted it will be “different” than his typical holiday celebrations.

Those attending Sandringham are reportedly in for fun and festivities as the King is pulling out all the stops to plan a memorable gathering for the joyous occasion.

Princess Eugenie Must Choose Between Invitations From Prince Harry And King Charles

On Christmas Eve, the royals enjoy a black-tie dinner and open presents per tradition. The next day, they attend church services at St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate.

The walk to church is always a highlight for everyone. The media always photographs them in their best formal attire. It’s also a significant opportunity to snap some family photos. The walkabout is a “gesture symbolizing unity” for the royal family. It demonstrates their desire to stick together.

The royals eat roast turkey for lunch, and on Christmas night, they play games like bingo and charades. Of course, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle weren’t invited for the sixth consecutive year.

However, Princess Eugenie received invites from Harry, Meghan, and the King. It’s hard to imagine her turning down Christmas at Sandringham in favor of spending the holidays in California with the Sussexes.

Eugenie has been trying to maintain loyalty to both sides since the royal rift started with “Megxit” and Harry and Meghan’s controversial decisions afterward. But she’ll obviously have to choose between them.

This was said of Eugenie’s relationship with Harry,

“She refuses to abandon him. She is a very loyal lady. She is not one for taking sides.”

However, choosing between invitations from her cousin, Harry, and the King is a difficult position for her to be in for Christmas.
