Kate Middleton confessed that she “didn’t know what 2024 had in store for her” last year when she hosted her Christmas carol service. She arrived at Westminster Abbey tonight for her fourth annual Christmas concert with her husband, Prince William, and her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Several Members Of The Royal Family Attended The Concert
It was the first time the Wales family were together in public since Trooping the Color in June. Her own family also showed up. Her mother, Carole, father, Michael, sister, Pippa, and brother, James, were present.
Other members of the royal family who were also present included Zara Tindall, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and Princess Beatrice, who was joined by her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and her stepson, Christopher Woolf Mapelli Mozzi.
Other royal attendees included the Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Lord Frederick Windsor, Lady Gabriella Windsor, and Lady Sarah Chatto, Princess Margaret’s daughter.
Unfortunately, King Charles and Queen Camilla did not attend the service, as the King was engaged at his Highgrove Estate in Gloucestershire.
However, Charles donated Christmas trees from Windsor Great Park to provide “Christmassy” scenery, which will later be donated to the local community.
Liz Hatton’s family traveled from Yorkshire. The Prince and Princess of Wales personally invited the teen to the event, but sadly, she passed away last week from a rare form of cancer. Kate understands better than anyone what the Hatton family is going through.
This time last year, Kate Middleton looked forward to spending the holiday season with her family, not knowing the hardships she would face in the new year.
Weeks later, Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery in the hospital, and an incidental finding spotted evidence of cancer. In the months following, she endured treatment and fought hard for her recovery.
“Love Is The Greatest Gift We Can Receive”
Thankfully, Kate Middleton is now cancer-free and has slowly resumed her public duties. It was a tumultuous year for Kate and her family. But tonight is a special occasion worthy of celebration, as it was Kate’s fourth annual “Together at Christmas” concert.
Tonight’s service highlighted themes of kindness, love, empathy, and being there for each other during strife and sorrow. The event featured emotional readings, musical performances, and festive carols.
Kate’s Royal Foundation supports the concert. The Princess wants to honor those who have helped others in need and recognize those who have inspired, comforted, and advised, and “above all else has shown that love is the greatest gift we can receive.”
On the front cover of the Order of Service is a beautiful illustration by artist and author Charles Macksey. It features a snowy background with a group walking together towards Westminster Abbey. The caption asks, “How did I help?” The answer is, “You were by my side, which was everything.”
In her letter for the Christmas carol service, Kate noted,
“This carol service is a heartfelt celebration of all of you and a reminder that at Christmas and throughout the year, we must all shine for each other. Because in times of joy and sadness, we are all each other’s light.”
