Queen Elizabeth was allegedly “very annoyed” with Donald Trump when he made an offhand remark about her sister, Princess Margaret.

Queen Elizabeth And Princess Margaret Were Lifelong Companions

Royal expert Richard Eden claims Trump put his foot in it by saying

“Margaret must have been a difficult sister,”

“The Queen was very annoyed with this remark, which she viewed as ignorant and hurtful. She always defended Margaret to the hilt.”

Inside sources claim that many considered Princess Margaret, the “black sheep” of the royal family. However, the truth is, she was simply the life of the party and one of the world’s most famous socialites.

While it’s true that Margaret drank like a fish and smoked up to sixty cigarettes a day.  But, she was loyal and loving to her sister. They were lifelong companions, which is all that mattered to the Queen.

The two sisters were so close that they even had a direct telephone line between their homes.  They could talk to each other whenever they wanted.

The Queen didn’t shed a tear at her husband, Prince Phillip’s funeral in April 2021.   However, she displayed emotions she had never shown in public before her sister passed away.

As for Trump’s assessment that Princess Margaret was “difficult,” it’s not clear why he said this to Her Majesty, but since Trump is a known TV fan, it may have been due to Princess Maragret’s depiction in “The Crown.”

In the two series released before Trump’s visit to the UK, Margaret is not portrayed in a flattering light. The show made her appear rebellious and resentful of her sister and haunted by her decision not to marry Captain Peter Towsend.

The Queen’s Sister Was No Stranger To Scandal

In “The Crown,” the Queen and her government disapprove of Princess Margaret’s desire to wed Towsend, which would have required her permission under the Royal Marriages Act 1772.

In reality, there was a plan for the monarch to grant permission.  However, Margaret and her children would be removed from the line of succession, and she would be stripped of her royal privileges, income, and perks. Life in the royal family is no joke.

“The Crown” was constantly criticized for incorrectly depicting royal family history. However, due to the show’s popularity, was very harmful to the monarchy.

That being said, Margaret was no stranger to scandal. When her romance with Peter Towsend ended, she married a photographer, Tony Armstrong Jones. The marriage ended in the first divorce in the royal family since Henry VIII in the 1500s.

If Trump had made the alleged comment, it would have hurt Queen Elizabeth, as she loved her sister very much. This isn’t the first time the Queen ostensibly took issue with Trump.

In Craig Brown’s book A Voyage Around The Queen, the monarch is alleged to have said she found Trump “very rude.” He was always looking over her shoulder “in search of someone more interesting.”

Not only that, but Trump broke royal etiquette and walked in front of Queen Elizabeth as she made awkward sidesteps around him.

While royal experts have questioned whether or not the claims were valid, multiple sources have suggested that Queen Elizabeth wasn’t exactly Trump’s biggest fan.
