Just months before comedian Bob Saget’s death, he gave an eerie interview in which he shared how he came to accept his own mortality after watching so many of his family members die. Saget told Radio Rahim last year that his aunts, uncles, cousins and sisters died at a rate of almost every two years.

Saget told Radio Rahim, “We had so many deaths growing up that my dad would just instill [the notion of enjoying life] in me. He didn’t teach it to me, I just saw how he reacted.”

“Listen to Bob Saget’s entire conversation with Radio Rahim, only on Luminary.”

Bob died at 65 on January 9, 2022, due to head trauma inside a hotel room in Orlando, Florida where he was performing stand-up. Saget added in the interview. “I guess therapy, having three kids, watching people pass away in the past few years, mortality, all that stuff has fortunately changed me.”

“The [deaths] started when I was like 7, and then every two years somebody died. [I had] a cousin die — she died at 23 of cancer after giving birth to her child — and then a lot of cousins went through a lot of hardships, so I was like 9, 10, 11, 12, 14,” Saget said.

It seems early brushes with death so consistently made him aware of the fact that one day he was going to die. This awareness made him accept his own mortality, so while we’re positive he did not want to die, Bob must have known and accepted it had he had a moment to think.

We will always miss Bob and his comedy, from family-friendly ‘Full House’ to his dark and dirty stand-up comedy, he will forever be in our minds.

Rest in peace, Bob. He was 65.
