Netflix has become a big name in the streaming world since its debut, and keeps getting better. The site has built an impressive and diverse library that can suit almost any viewer. They seem to be especially committed to building an impressive collection of Spanish programming, Here are some of our picks for ones you need to watch.

    Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso

If you’re following the recaps on here, you know know that El Final del Paraíso had a long history on Telemundo, with original show airing over a decade ago. It came back in a continuation in 2016 called Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso. While there were a lot of changes to the history of the ’08 season, we think you can’t go wrong checking out the original. It’s a great companion piece to the current show, and can also very easily stand on its own.

The season focused on Catalina Santana’s (Carmen Villalobos) quest for implants so she can become a call girl, and its effect on her nearest and dearest. It also examines the building and destruction of the friendship between Cata and Yésica “La Diabla” Franco (María Fernanda Yepes). Though it’s got some serious subject matter, the great thing about the show is, it added plenty of funny moments that give the show an overall lighthearted feel.

    La Doña

This series focuses on Altagracia “La Dona” Sandoval (Aracely Arámbula). She’s a powerful construction mogul who has a thirst for revenge. The target of her ire is Los Monkeys, a group of men who had killed her parents and boyfriend before raping her. The show takes a series of crazy and emotional twists (including some witchcraft) before concluding with what we think is our favorite novela finale ever. Start binging this one now, so you’ll be caught up on the story when the series returns this year on Telemundo.

    Rosario Tijeras

This show has two versions. One is a standalone season starring the afore-mentioned María Fernanda Yepes as the title character, while the other is a remake that has multiple seasons. For that version, Bárbara de Regil plays Rosario.

The newer version of the novela is a faithful retelling of the first season that changes up the ending and goes in a different direction in its second season. Both series focus on a young woman who is drawn into the world of narcos after the murder of a close friend. The incident leads her to become an assassin who ultimately avenges her friend.

While we love how overall faithful the first season was and enjoy the direction it’s taken to keep Rosario’s story going, we have a special affinity for the original. The way it plays out makes it a perfect one-and-done show. If you are into following a character over time, though, be sure to check out the new version. A third season is currently airing in Mexico, so expect it to hit here sometime either later this year, or early 2020. We’ll keep an eye out for any further news on that.

    La Piloto

This is another cool series that is classic telenovela format. It stars Livia Brito as Yolanda Cadena, a young woman who dreams of being a pilot. Unfortunately, she’s from a poor (and traumatic) background that has not made fulfilling her dream easy.

Eventually, her friend Zulima Montes (Yepes) introduces her to an airline that’s a front for drug traffickers. Yolanda is able to earn money while working as a flight attendant, something that at least allows her to be part of the aviation world. A series of events follow that lead Yolanda further into the narco world and put her in danger.

Guerra de Idolos (War of Idols)

Also translated as “Price of Fame” this is a bit of a unique novela that we’re still working through. The show explores the ups and downs of the music business, a sometimes dangerous place in the show’s world. There is plenty of intrigue going on to keep viewers wondering what’ll happen next.

The show heavily features catchy music with great vocals to accent the story. This one unfortunately ended prematurely on Telemundo, but you can see how it ends on Netflix.

She’s a recent Days of Our Lives convert, having grown up on the nighttime shows of the '90s. She’s also an accomplished writer in many fields, including paranormal fiction. Jamie loves the crazy twists that Soap Opera writers come up with, even though she's sometimes yelling at the characters. As a published and accomplished writer, she knows how to get into the minds of the writers and is usually bang on in predicting plot twists before they come to life. When she’s not writing for Daily Soap Dish, Jamie binge watches telenovelas as a way to improve her Spanish. They also fuel her muse, which tends to upset her readers.
