ABC ‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers reveal there’s been a bit of a shake-up on ‘General Hospital’. Recently, it broke that Ingo Rademacher, who plays Jasper Jacks, was leaving. While the timing made it look like he was fired over a recent post, it’s clearly due to something else. This month, a vaccine mandate went into effect, and the talk out there says more to come. Let’s take a look at the situation, what might happen with another character, and what we’d like to see happen with that character’s actor.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: First to go
First, there was Ingo. We have a feeling they’ve been setting this up for a little while. The rise in tensions between Jasper Jacks and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) made sense, but it also changed his role in the show. Especially since daughter Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is now a college student living in a dorm.
She won’t need her father as much. His relationship with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) will likely not happen again, especially after they had a bit of a conflict with her over the Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) lie made things tense. Which, of course, came after she called him out for hiding Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) is her daughter to protect Carly. All of these things looked as though they were putting an end to the character. At least, for now, depending on whether they decide to recast.
General Hospital spoilers indicate this is a pretty good time for it, too. It looks like Jax’s storyline is winding down while several other characters’ stories are picking up. So, there will be plenty of drama in Port Charles without him. However, it looks like there another big name who might leave—Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Word on the street
The rumors have been out there since the news of Ingo’s departure broke. But they’re getting more frequent and there’s definitely a case to be made for an exit being set up. Recently, Jason went with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) to rescue her mother.
Instead of accomplishing the mission, they’ve ended up prisoners of Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Sure, Jason is confident he and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) can get out of this, but this is Peter. He’s been good at covering tracks, getting away with things, and keeping people out of sight.
Personally, we see Jason ending up missing due to this mission, possibly presumed dead. We believe this would be the best strategy for now to handle the absence of the actor. There are a lot of fans who love Burton and will be sad if he is, in fact, out.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Will Jason be recast if Burton leaves? And where should the actor go next?
So, having the character MIA a bit could soften the blow of a recast. Plus, there was the awkwardness between Sonny, Carly, and Jason right before Jason left. This would give time to let the Nixon Falls drama die down before reintroducing Jason into the picture.
We’re sure this character will be recast because it’s happened before. And, funny enough, the former Drew Cain (Billy Miller) was the one playing him. So, having Drew back in the picture in the form of Cameron Mathison could be an opening for Mathison to take over both roles. We definitely think he’s shown a lot more grit than the previous Drew/Jason and think he could handle the role, if that’s what they decide to do.
Of course, there’s also talk of an actor Trevor St. John joining GH. Could he be a replacement? We’ll see. We don’t really see a need to add new characters right now. According to the fandom page for the actor, he’s rumored to be joining the cast in December and they haven’t named who he’s playing. The last two times they added an actor with no character attached, we saw the return of Drew as well as Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). So, we’ll see what happens.
ABC ‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: As for Steve
So, what about the actor who currently plays Jason? Personally, we’d love to see him come to DOOL, as well as Rademacher. Both actors have a fanbase who are upset about the idea of them leaving. Some are even going so far as to say they’re done with GH if they’re gone. So, we think DOOL would be smart to bring them on board. We could maybe see them in an entirely different role, and they might just bring their fans with them. DOOL could definitely use the ratings boost, which we’re still confused about. We think this show doesn’t deserve to be ranked as low as it’s been so often.
